FWS is awarded to eligible students who meet the March 1st priority deadline when completing their Free Application for Federal Financial Aid (FAFSA) application. The University Scholarships & Financial Aid Services Office (USFAS) determines student eligibility and makes student awards. More students are awarded than there are available jobs on campus; therefore, the process is competitive. On average, there are seven applicants for every FWS job opening. Student Employment Hourly Wage: $9.00-$10.00/hour This position is part of the Engaged Student Employment initiative. This is an on-campus employment model designed to help students build their career readiness skills through meaningful and connected workplace experiences right here at USF! The student(s) hired into this role will have the opportunity to build their marketability and skills sets for future internships and jobs, be engaged in and have access to professional development training, have a means to archive their work and projects for others to see, and have continued coaching and support from their supervisor(s). The Office of Internships & Career Readiness serves the USF Tampa Campus; providing programs, resources and support for Internships, Co-operative Education, Student Employment and USFs Career Readiness Badging Program. The Career Readiness Badging Program is an on-line system through which students enter and enhance their USF journey by learning how to connect their work and experience to the competencies that employers desire. The program features 8 competencies and each competency includes a Learn It, Do It and a Show It section. The students employed to work with this program will assist other students in using the system, assess their Do It and Show It work based on response rubrics, and participate in events at which the program may be featured. To elaborate further, these positions will function as Career Readiness Badging Program ambassadors for the program on campus, and liaisons between the students engaged in the program and the professional staff Competency Champions. The students will assist with building the brand for the Career Readiness Badging Program on campus at various events/activities; providing CRB program orientation information/guidance; and screening work submitted for Do It and Show It components. Ongoing training and support will be provided by the OICR Graduate Assistant to help students learn more about the career readiness competencies (NACE), to understand and implement the assessor rubric information and student work expectations, and to develop written communication and coaching skills in response to student work submitted through the CRB program. Duties and Responsibilities: * Career Readiness Badging Program presentations to student groups, etc. * Participating in Career Readiness and/or related events by tabling and informing students about the program and how it works * Helping to assess student work, by screening work using a response matrix; helping to update the student work database; collaborating with the competency champion (professional staff) * Responding in a timely manner to students as part of the Badging team * Providing developmental feedback based on general rubric requirements; assisting the competency champion as needed/trained/able with student work assessment Average Number of Hours per Week: Maximum of 20 hours per week. Schedule: Flexible Minimum Qualifications: Applicant must have a current Federal Work Study (FWS) award for the current academic year in order to apply for this position. Preferred Qualifications: Applicants must be a sophomore or above, currently enrolled full-time, and in good academic standing. Student must maintain good academic standing throughout duration of employment. Successful candidates for the CR Peer role must:

Additionally, successful candidates should: * be proficient with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook; * willing and able to use Handshake and Canvas if not already familiar; * be detail-oriented and effective with basic data management; and * be able to maintain a calendar that allows for tracking of deadlines/due dates. Learning Outcomes: 1. Students will gain experience related to teaching and will be able to use assessment rubrics and response matrices to assist program participants. 2. Students will learn about and build their own Career Readiness skills and competencies and will earn competency badges within the program to advance their own career development. 3. Students will enhance their communication skills through presentations, screening student work, providing developmental feedback, and working collaboratively within a team.
