    Mail Services Specialist- Mail Services (3 Openings) PayGrade: 32 HiringRange: $12.00 - $13.31/ Hourly JOB SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOBFUNCTIONS: The Mail Services Specialist isresponsible for processing various classes and types of mail received at theCampus Post Office including incoming, outgoing, and intra campus mail. TheMail Services Specialist understands task specific processes and proceduresregarding mail processing and pertinent US Postal regulations. This positionprovides customer service to employees and staff of UTHSC. DUTIES ANDRESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Receives and sorts incoming U.S. Postal Service mail and campus mail for University faculty, staff, departments and students. 2. Loads and unloads U.S. Postal Service trucks and University mail vehicles. 3. Picks up UTHSC mail from USPS locations. Picks up outgoing domestic, international and campus mail for subsequent breakdown into category of mail processing, delivery or metering. 4. Separates and bundles mail for distribution, delivers mail in a timely manner, in accordance with designated routes, and established times. 5. Maintains knowledge of faculty, staff, departments, and organizations and changes that effect the sorting and delivery of mail. 6. Handles accountable mail and obtains signature for express, certified, return receipt and delivery confirmation priority mail. 7. Processes outgoing metered mail using the high speed mail processing machines and postage meters. Prepares mail processors and postage meters with accurate settings and maintains them for functional operation. 8. Responsible for keypunching or laser bar code scanning of departmental account numbers for postage charges used for monthly billing. 9. Checks for correct postage, proper determination of weight, piece count, cost and proper sorting into trays, tubs, or sacks as determined by classification. 10. Insures mail is properly prepared and computes postage using an electronic, programmable postal scale according to classification, weight and destination in accordance with the Domestic or International Mail Manual. 11. Performs operator maintenance on postal equipment. 12. Attends training classes both internal and external to stay informed of new postal regulations, campus policies, route changes and operation of equipment. 13. Performs other Mail Services related duties as required and maintains cleanliness of work areas. Provides support for ancillary services as instructed by supervisor, director, and/or manager. _MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: __ _ **EDUCATION: **Highschool diploma or GED (TRANSCRIPTREQUIRED) EXPERIENCE: Six (6)months of experience providing customer service or support. Experiencedelivering mail, packages, or products. Experience working in a mail room ormail center is preferred. Experience working as delivery driver or scheduler ispreferred. Experience working for a shipping or mailing company is preferred.Experience operating postage meter machinery (Pitney Bowes, NeoPost, FB,Hasler, etc.) is preferred. Ability to establish and maintain effective workingrelationships with others. Ability to work independently and perform assignedduties with minimal supervision. Ability to plan, organize and coordinate workassignments. Ability to sort data alphabetically, numerically andcategorically. Ability to develop and maintains reports, forms, records, filesand correspondence. Ability to perform duties in a timely and efficient manner.Ability to prioritize work and due to the sensitive nature of the work tomaintain confidentiality. Must maintain knowledge of campus delivery system andretain working knowledge of faculty and staff to assist with move update andforwarding of mail. Ability to use a calculator and simple arithmetic. **LICENSE/CERTIFICATION:**Valid Drivers License **(COPY OFLICENSE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED) ** ** ** **PHYSICAL QUALIFICATIONS: **Must be able to lift 75 pounds.
