Posting Summary Provides administrative support for the Department of Microbiology and Molecular Genetics, including research teams and individual labs within MMG. Assist department faculty in the creation of the undergraduate and graduate teaching schedule of courses and serve as primary contact for all teaching and evaluation data entry and correspondence. Provide administrative support Department Chair and Vice-Chair for Education in the development of new courses and curricula. Coordinate and execute several small and large symposiums, events and programmatic meetings per year. Interface with internal and external vendors. Provide administrative support for Department committees. Attend regular meeting, prepare and disseminate minutes. Maintain computer inventory and electronic document storage. Manage faculty schedules and unit travel requests. Administrative support includes, but is not limited to, copying, scanning, preparing documents, scheduling meetings and spaces, maintaining department-wide documents (letterhead, envelopes, contact lists), mailing, and ordering supplies. Assist with maintenance of MMG website presence, and assist MMG colleagues with media presence and public relations at large. Reports to the Department Administrator. Minimum Qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience) Associates degree in related field, one to three years related experience, working knowledge of software applications used to support office functions, and familiarity with Internet resources required. Effective interpersonal communication skills required. Effective writing and organizational skills. Proficient with word processing and spreadsheet applications. Desirable Qualifications Prior administrative and academic research-related experience highly desirable.
