The role for this position is 95% Teaching and 5% Service. Applicants must have a PhD (or equivalent degree) in nutrition or a closely related field. Applicants must also be a Registered Dietitian. Preference will be for individuals who have at least three years experience working as an RD in a practice setting. Acquisition of tenure will require demonstrated excellence in teaching in and outside the classroom, plus a record of scholarship contributing to the pedagogy of teaching and/or to the core knowledge in their field(s). The start date of this position is August 1, 2019. Responsibilities: Initial teaching responsibilities will include: NDFS 4750 Professional Practice, NDFS 4760 Professional Practice Lab, and NDFS 5750 Advanced Practicum, plus advising graduate students. This faculty will also have additional responsibilities associated with the dietetics programs such as leading the dietetics application process and program evaluation efforts. The faculty member will participate in service within the university and/or the field of dietetics. Qualifications: Required Qualifications - PhD or equivalent degree in nutrition or a closely related field. - Current Registered Dietitian (RD) with the Commission on Dietetics Registration (CDR) and willing to become a Certified Dietitian in Utah within 6 months of hire. - Evidence of teaching experience, particularly in nutrition/dietetics-related higher education. Preferred Qualifications - At least three years of experience as a registered dietitian in a practice setting. - Demonstration of ability to advise undergraduate and graduate students. - Demonstration of strong oral and written communication skills. - Demonstration of supervisory and mentoring skills. - Demonstration of ability to coordinate projects involving multidisciplinary teams. - Mentoring or research experience. - Experience with curriculum development and grant writing. ADA Communication Requirements - Speech: Expression of a level to communicate fluently with clients/customers and others to obtain and provide complex information. Vocalize and explain detailed and problem-solve, both in-person and by telephone. Capable of interpretation of technical materials, oral presentation of reports and able to adapt vocabulary, tone and content for listener. ADA Comm Requirements - Comprehension: Comprehension and expression of a level to routinely draft narrative information such as case histories, compose routine correspondence on own initiative, make interview notes. May involved a large volume of such composition. ADA Travel Requirements: Minimal travel required ability to travel infrequently (i.e., annually) for activities such as developmental sessions at a centralized training center.
