Accomplishes this by applying journeyman skills in conjunction with advanced technical knowledge, computer skills and the ability to analyze and understand unique project requests. Works as a member of a team on various projects or assignments. Assists with other duties including, two way radios and audio systems. Responsibilities: - Installs fire alarm and security systems throughout campus buildings. - Assists with equipment upgrades. - Repairs and maintains all campus fire alarm and security systems. - Performs preventive maintenance on all fire alarm and security systems. - Troubleshoots technical problems with fire alarm and security systems. - Installs, maintains, and troubleshoots issues with the campus monitoring headend software and computer equipment. - Provides technical guidance and direction to less senior electricians. - Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies. - Promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices. - Cleans equipment, shop area, and work site. - Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned. Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications - Apprentice: Minimal experience and knowledge of electrical/electronics field - Journeyman: Minimum of 2 years directly related work experience in fire and security alarm trade and 1 year in related electrical/electronics field. Preferred Qualifications - 2 years of experience in the Fire alarm/ Security alarm field setting and applying journeyman level skills - Training in the Fire alarm / Security alarm field. - Computer skills in the Fire alarm / Security field. - Experience with Notifier fire alarm systems, S2 security Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities - Comprehensive knowledge of fire codes. - Advanced knowledge Fire alarm and Security system installation and maintenance techniques. - Knowledge of fire alarm and security alarm systems. - Skill in the use various hand and power tools common to the trade. - Advanced computer skills. - Customer service skills. - Skill in troubleshooting and repairing all types of electrical circuitry. - Ability to create, read, understand, and build to specifications from blue prints and schematic drawings. - Ability to work without supervision. - Ability to isolate wiring and software problems in equipment. - Ability to measure, cut and pull wire in conduit. - Ability to effectively communicate with co-workers and customers.
