Valencia College is now hiring a PART-TIME MATH TUTOR (LEARNING ASSISTANT II) to join the Valencia College East Campus Community.

We are seeking a Math Tutor (Learning Assistant II) to be responsible for providing academic assistance for a wide variety of mathematical subjects, both developmental and college level. It is the duty of the tutor to assess students' tutoring needs and guide them to become independent learners. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Interacting with students to assess their tutoring needs
• Guiding students through the course material
• Helping students with skills to become an independent learners
• Using hands-on manipulatives to assist student learning when appropriate
• Participation in monthly training meetings
• Collaboration with area supervisors and other staff in the development and improvement of the Math Center
• Other duties as requested

​QUALIFICATIONS:

• High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
• Previous experience in teaching, tutoring, or other related fields
• Ability to build rapport with students
• Sufficient knowledge of core educational subjects
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
