    This is a twelve-month faculty position that requires expertise in teaching health and nursing assistant course(s).  Faculty are licensed RNs and professional educators whose primary responsibility is to educate students in the nursing assistant and health-related programs as they strive to become professionals.  Faculty act as role models to students and the college community.  Efforts to improve instruction, student relationships and student retention are expected.  Faculty at CSI are expected to always be prepared for class, enthusiastic, and committed to the ideal that all students can and will learn given an educational environment that is stimulating, compassionate and equitable.

     

    RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE FULL TIME FACULTY MEMBER:

    1. Work 37.5 hours a week as outlined in the CSI Faculty Handbook.
    2. Schedule at least 5 office hours per week, 1 hour/day, for meeting with students.
    3. Teach in the classroom, lab and clinical setting.
    4. Serve on Department and College committees.
    5. Attend and participate in team meetings, as scheduled.
    6. Attend and participate in monthly course, program and/or department meetings.
    7. Participate in the faculty evaluation process and Program Review each year.
    8. Actively participate in professional associations.
    9. Develop and update curriculum, including course descriptions, course syllabi, class schedules and methods of course delivery (including online) that meet both student and industry needs. 
    10. Develop measurable student outcomes assessment strategies to gage success of instruction.
    11. Teach and mentor dual credit health-related and CNA instructors in various high schools.
    12. Work with the health and nursing assistant team lending ideas, expertise and new clinical practices to the team and program.
    13. Participate in curricular revisions and outcome assessment of the certified nursing assisting program.
    14. Teach in multiple pedagogical techniques (e.g. online, hybrid, face-to-face).
    15. Evaluate student progress and outcomes according to the policies of the department and follow established guidelines set forth in the curriculum.
    16. Comply with all Idaho Career Technical Education (CTE) policies and procedures; including, obtaining and maintaining Idaho CTE teacher certification.
    17. Assist with coordination of the CNA Technical Advisory Committee (TAC).
    18. Maintain and keep current all CNA certifications, immunizations/screening tests, and AHA certifications.
    19. Work civilly and cooperatively with colleagues.
    20. Other duties as assigned.

     

     MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

    • A current unencumbered Idaho RN license.
    • Three years experience as an RN
    • Two years experience in long-term care.
    • Maintain certification DHW and CTE teaching requirements. Experience in dual credit is a plus.  
    • Emotional and physical health to enable full participation in the classroom and clinical areas.
    • Evidence of achieving positive student relationships.
    • Ability to work as a team member.
    • Willingness to communicate effectively.

    • Create test fixtures to exercise, test or evaluate components and systems.
    • Initiates and executes projects to improve product manufacturability, testing, reliability, and cost reductions.
    • Uses data extraction and analysis to identify areas of opportunity to improve product manufacturability, testing, reliability, and cost reductions.
    • Understand & develop project goals and objectives and direct the efforts of others including technicians and assemblers based on these objectives.
    • Issue written and oral instructions; assign duties and examine work for exactness, neatness, and conformance to policies and procedures; performs or assists subordinates in performing duties; adjusts error and complaints.
    • Understand regulatory standards including but not limited to OSHA, DOE, IECC, NSF and UL and ensure that product design and manufacture meets these standards.
    • Analyze returned products to determine root cause of failure and when necessary, perform FMEA.
