    Student Care Coordinator, Community Standards and Student Support _ _ _ _ Position Summary The Student Care Coordinatorfor the Office of the Dean of Students will conduct intake assessments thattake into account unique aspects of identity to determine appropriate treatmentplans and help to coordinate follow-up for students of concern. The StudentCare Coordinator will assist students in accessing on and off-campus resourcesand services, planning and setting goals related to their care, continuing withthe appropriate level of care, as needed, and/or re-entering the Universityafter a medical leave of absence. This position will coordinate with the Officeof Housing and Residential Education, the Psychological & CounselingCenter, the Student Health Center, the Center for Student Wellbeing, the Officeof Student Accountability, Community Standards, and Academic Integrity, theProject Safe Center for Sexual Misconduct Prevention and Response, the academicunits, and other relevant departments to address the needs of students havingpersonal and/or academic difficulty. Additionally, this position will assistwith outreach and education to the campus community (students, staff, andfaculty) regarding identification and intervention for students of concern, andassist in the development of a network of community providers to supplement oncampus services. About the Work Unit The Office of the Dean ofStudents serves a central role in student learning and development atVanderbilt, advancing the Universitys mission of teaching, research, andservice by fostering academic and social networks through which studentsdevelop as intentional learners and global citizens. The Office of the Dean ofStudents creates opportunities to involve students, faculty and staff indiverse learning communities and provides a critical support structure forenriching the overall student experience. We achieve these ends throughstrategic alignment, both internally and in concert with other universitydepartments. The Office of the Dean ofStudents is organized into four principal areas: Community Standards andStudent Support, Experiential Learning, Residential Experience, and SocialJustice and Identity. This position reports to the Student Care Manager in theCommunity Standards and Student Support area of the Office of the Dean ofStudents. Vanderbilt Chancellor NickZeppos and Dean of Students Mark Bandas have identified diversity, equity,inclusion, and mental health as top priorities for the institution and byextension the offices of the Dean of Students. Candidates must be able toarticulate and demonstrate excellence and continued growth in knowledge,awareness, skills, and experience engaging with these priorities in a highereducation environment. Duties and Responsibilities * Provide case managementservices for students of concern, including assessment, outreach, advocacy,assistance in accessing resources and navigating the University system * Implement appropriatefollow-up with students of concern to ensure compliance with recommendations * Conduct intake assessments andcoordinate follow-up * Ability to respond to afterhours or weekend emergencies on a limited basis * Assist in developing andmaintaining a network of community providers and resources that meet the needs(medical, financial, and otherwise) of the student population * Respond to inquiries andreports about students of concern * Act as a resource and liaisonto members of the University community on matters pertaining to studentwellbeing and students of concern * Work with students returningfrom medical leaves of absence in order to ensure procedural compliance andenable personal and academic success * Prepare or assist in thepreparation of relevant reports * Design programs andpublications and conduct trainings to educate students, faculty, and staffabout student wellbeing and identifying and responding to students in distress * Represent the Office of theDean of Students on various University-wide committees * Keep abreast of trends instudent mental health, substance use, and wellbeing * Research, understand, andarticulate legal and administrative requirements * Have an understanding ofFERPA, HIPAA, and other relevant laws and regulations, and uphold the higheststandards of confidentiality * Engage in professionaldevelopment, including presentations at pertinent conferences and workshops * Assume other responsibilitiesas directed by the Student Care Manager and Associate Dean for CommunityStandards and Student Support and the Dean of Students in matters related tostudent wellbeing Profile of an Ideal Candidate * Job requires a Bachelorsdegree and 3 years of experience or the equivalent * The most competitivecandidates are likely to have a Masters degree in Social Work or Counseling andrelevant licensure preferred; Masters degree in related mental health fieldalso considered. * Demonstrated understanding ofand experience conducting behavioral health assessments * Knowledge of advising andcounseling techniques * Experience working with studentsin crisis and creating behavioral intervention plans and/or case management * Knowledge of principles andprocedures involved in risk assessment in a University setting * Demonstrated skills incritical thinking, decision-making, problem solving, and identifying measuresof procedural performance * Demonstrated ability to createtraining material and resources for working with students in distress * Knowledge of studentaffairs/student life context within a University and ability to work withfaculty members and senior-level administrators relatively autonomously * Must be able to maintainconfidentiality and privacy within the bounds of Family Educational Rights andPrivacy Act (FERPA) * Strong organizational skillsand self-motivation * Strong communication (oral andwritten) and public relations skills * Demonstrated commitment todiversity, inclusion, and cultural competence * Ability to work effectivelywith students from diverse backgrounds attending highly selective institutionswith a broad range of campus groups, departments, and organizations * Proven ability to handlemultiple priorities while maintaining a high level of professionalism andattention to detail * Strong computer skills in theuse of spreadsheets and student databases About Vanderbilt Benefits In addition to offering alively community that encourages learning and celebrates diversity, VanderbiltUniversity offers a competitive, flexible benefits package including health,dental, vision, life, accidental death & dismemberment, disabilityinsurance, paid time off, and a 403(b) retirement plan with employer match.Vanderbilt offers tuition assistance to employees, spouses and dependentchildren.
