Job Description
As the VP OF DIGITAL PRODUCT MANAGEMENT, you will lead and champion all aspects of our digital learning product suite for our K-12, Higher Education and professional/ services markets. In this capacity, you will shape strategic technology initiatives, direct and develop a team of product managers and UX designers, drive the roadmap planning process and define customer-centric product design processes. As a critical contributor, you are relied on to provide exemplary partnership and thought leadership to internal stakeholders in Technology, Marketing, and Sales, to define solutions and create compelling and elegant product strategies. This high impact role requires strong people management skills, a high level of comfort with technology and strong business acumen. You are energized by building highly collaborative teams and have the agility necessary to oscillate between tactical and strategic projects in an innovative and evolving environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Strategic and tactical oversight and execution of our digital product strategy, including all facets of the planning and design process. Ensure that digital roadmap balances market needs with sound business practices.
- Collaborate with the VP of Engineering and other key stakeholders to ensure that roadmap projects deliver as planned, achieve/ exceed their requirements, and ensure that projects have robust, clear requirements and stories, visual designs and prototypes.
- Ensure that product management and UX incorporate and balance customer feedback, performance and usage data, and competitive benchmarking within its product designs and plan.
- Partner with CEO, CTO and the Senior Leadership Team, lead initiatives to create and deliver new VHL products, services, and ecommerce strategies that generate greater benefit and value for customers and new revenue streams for VHL.
- Establish and implement data-driven, customer-centric product design processes that bring the voice of the customer to life within its digital products.
- Measure and evaluate key metrics for digital product and platform performance, including functional performance, feature usage, customer satisfaction, and learning efficacy. Create dashboards, reports, and sales / marketing tools that use these metrics to show VHL’s digital advantage.
- Establish and maintain comprehensive competitor intelligence and leverage in product strategy, product marketing, and sales training.
- Develop and manage project schedules and budgets for internal and external services within the product management and design / UX team. Continually drive cost improvements and greater operational efficiency.
- Define business analytics and create dashboards and reports to support Sales and Marketing and, measure all aspects of lead generation: campaign effectiveness, pipeline contribution, overall business performance etc.
- Lead key product lifecycle engagements, including developer standups, stakeholder feature planning meetings, UX design reviews, and engineering iteration meetings. Manage feature releases and coordinate communication with customers and stakeholders.
- Participate in sales and customer-facing events, including sales meetings, customer forums, and academic conferences.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree, MBA preferred
- 15+ years of relevant product management experience with demonstrated success delivering enterprise applications within education or training markets
- 5+ years of experience managing and building in-house and distributed, global teams
- Experience with accessibility, privacy and universal design standards, practices and principles required. Demonstrated knowledge of product integration standards, including IMS Global LTI, OneRoster, and Common Cartridge.
- Extensive product design, development and delivery experience with enterprise-scale, cloud-based, complex web applications required. Preferred experience and success delivering enterprise web applications within education or training markets.
- A high degree of comfort presenting product related information to internal and external audiences; ability to adapt to environment and relate to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Entrepreneurial drive and a self-reliant team leader who can effectively manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Significant track record of success developing, managing and executing small and large scale strategic product plans, roadmaps and initiatives. This includes expertise in creating and managing budgets, vendors and relationships.
- Strong strategic thinker with the ability to translate strategy into pragmatic solutions.
- Strong business acumen; good grasp of technology solutions.
- Experience in the educational publishing field and/or experience in the foreign language market desirable.
- Strong general management skills including project delivery management, personnel management, expense management and influence management.
- Ability to travel up to 30%
