    Job Details Job Title Patient Billing/Services Representative II C (West County) - Medical Oncology - 42578 Job ID 42578 Location Medical School Full/Part Time Full-Time Regular/Temporary Regular Job Type/Schedule This position is full-time and works approximately 40 hours per week. Department Name/Job Location This position is in the Department of Medical Oncology. The position is located at West County. Essential Functions POSITION SUMMARY: Obtains insurance information, referral forms and counsels patients on financial assistance when seen in department for services PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Obtains insurance information from patients and counsels alternative ways for financial assistance 2. Registers all new patients, assisting with form completion 3. Reviews schedule for new patients, updating when necessary 4. Calls patients with appointment time reminder, obtaining insurance information and referral forms 5. Explains billing process to patients, answers incoming inquiries from patients and third-party payers 6. Explains billing process to other IBC staff; assists with basic account maintenance activities 7. Assists patients with insurance questions regarding the billing process 8. Assists staff with sending out reminder cards and other scheduling duties 9. If order entry in the electronic medical record is part of job function, completes requisitions/orders per Washington University guidelines Required Qualifications * High school diploma with 3 years of experience in billing systems and third-party claims and/or experience in a medical office setting or related customer service/office experience. * Basic Life Support certification. (Online BLS certifications, those without a skills assessment component, are not sufficient to meet the BLS requirements). * If order entry in the electronic medical record is part of the jobs function/responsibilities, Registered/Certified Medical Assistant or successfully achieve Medical Assistant registration/certification or pass assessment-based recognition (ABR) exam within 6 months of hire date or within a shorter time frame if noted by hiring manager. Preferred Qualifications Demonstrated interpersonal skills and working knowledge of insurance and financial options. Salary Range The hiring range for this position is $15.54 - $19.05 per hour.
