    Part-time JATC 669 Student Support Specialist (Default Section) Posting Number: 0602360 Position Title: Part-time JATC 669 Student Support Specialist Position is: Part Time Position Type: Staff Position (Full Time/Part Time) Department/Ofc.: Economic Development Position Description: The JATC669 Sprinkler Fitter Education Program is administered by Washtenaw Community College to provide online course training to over 2,400 United Association Local 669 Sprinkler Fitter Apprentices across 46 states. The primary role of this position is to provide student support and document processing to student Sprinkler Fitter Apprentices. A typical day in this position involves multi-tasking while providing phone support, scanning documents, uploading student data, and sorting mail. A secondary role is to assist the Instructional Design team with special course revision projects. This position requires computer proficiency, patience, attention to detail and excellent customer service skills. Knowledge of sprinkler fitting trade is not required. This position may also support the UA & Union Trades department during summer training events. This position reports to the Director Sprinkler Fitter Apprentice Education. This position is part-time up to 25 hours per week. Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: Hand-sort and process incoming/outgoing mail. Create and manage Excel spreadsheets to log inventory and grader payroll. Answer phones and emails to provide accurate program and student records information with friendly and efficient customer service. Provide basic online technical support to end-users of novice ability including troubleshooting common web browser and log-in issues. Scan student documents, upload coursework and scores using AnyDoc image reading software. Identify and correct upload errors. Process student exam requests, course completions, and enrollments using Banner. Organize stockroom and restock office supply materials. Operate phone center while alone and unsupervised. Open/close office, unlock/lock quarters and start-up/shut down business machines unsupervised. Assist Web Administrator with testing Moodle LMS functionality and user experience. Assist Technical Writers with proofreading and editing course text and question banks. Assist Revision Team with review, classification and management of course files on shared cloud. Assist Director with compiling statistical data and forecasting trends. Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Sprinkler Fitter Apprentice Education. Perform other temporary/seasonal duties as needed by the Dean of Apprentice and Skilled Trades. Minimum Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications: Bachelors Degree and two years of related work experience OR the equivalent combination of education and work experience. Previous experience in a customer service role. Proficiency using Windows OS, MS Office and leading web browsers with an ability to troubleshoot and solve some common problems and user errors. Accurate computer keyboarding skills of 30+ wpm. Able to use and troubleshoot business machines such as scanners, printers and copiers. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Excellent English grammar, writing style, and reading comprehension. Able to format Excel cells and write simple formulas. Able to work independently with minimal supervision, including opening or closing the call center office unassisted. Able to lift boxes up to 30lbs and make deliveries across campus unassisted. Able and enthusiastic to work short 3 to 6 hour shifts, 4 to 5 days per week, including some mornings and/or evenings, Monday Friday, 25 hrs average. 26-35 hour weeks will be required for peak periods that occur between March 10 April 5, June 10 July 5, August 8 August 17, September 10 October 5, and December 10 January 5.
