Quality Assurance Test Engineer (CALS) Job Description The Center for Applied Learning Science (CALS) at WGU develops habit-forming learning applications leading to educational attainment and life-long success. The CALS Quality Assurance Test Engineer is responsible for testing software operating or application systems. They communicate project information to clients, project managers, and/or other design personnel working on projects. They will maintain good working relationships with clients and staff. They will write and maintain complete test documentation (test plan, test cases, and issues found), while supporting team members and ensuring established goals and deadlines are met, and keeps management informed of status and significant problems. Other duties include: Understand engineering project goals and associated requirements / dependencies Participate in reviews of application designs, functional requirements and specifications. Identification and documentation of integration points. Work with the project teams as well as third party testing teams in the design and creation of test plans that meet the integration requirements for engineering project deliverables Design, create and execute manual and automated test suites that meet the goals of our current Quality Assurance Strategy Reporting of status updates based on executed test results Research and design integration approach and mentor other team members on integration testing strategies Required Skills Demonstrated experience with integration testing Familiar with the SDLC and varying software development / testing methodologies (including agile and SCRUM) Understanding of relational databases, Oracle and SQL skills Familiar with web application server technology running on multiple OS Platforms (Unix / Solaris / Windows) Well versed in Software Quality testing procedures and tools Familiar with the SDLC and varying software development / testing methodologies (including agile and SCRUM) Detailed understanding of relational database, Oracle and fluent SQL skills Familiar with Software Quality testing procedures and tools Required Experience Bachelor's degree, or equivalent combination of formal education and experience 3+ years experience in testing of web based applications Job Location Salt Lake City, Utah, United States Position Type Full-Time/Regular
