    Market Research Analyst Job Description The Strategic Research Analyst will join a growing team to analyze and report on a wide variety of academic, employment, and competitor data. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in helping WGU optimize its portfolio of current and future academic programs and ensure that it remains fully aligned with student and employer demands. The analyst will focus research efforts on one of WGUs four colleges (serving as a partner, advisor, and researcher for the college) and report directly to the Vice President, Portfolio Strategy. Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Identify, collect, compile, analyze, interpret, and present impactful quantitative and qualitative performance data (including enrollment trends, student academic and employment outcomes, student satisfaction, and revenues / expenses) for each academic program in the WGU portfolio to measure program success and inform investment decisions Research and identify industry, employment, and educational trends (including skills, programs, and credentials) that have the greatest potential for high growth and student impact in alignment with WGUs mission Analyze the competitive landscape (including institutions, programs, credentials, prices, enrollment/market share, and positioning) for current and emerging competitors Build relationships and expertise around industry domains (e.g. technology, business, education, healthcare) and partner constituencies associated with assigned college (e.g. industry consortiums, workforce commissions, military organizations, community colleges) Produce executive-friendly data dashboards, research briefs, white papers, case-studies, and in-depth research reports that include actionable insights Analyze data to identify program and portfolio gaps with respect to student and employer needs (e.g. program majors, credential types, pricing/financing, student services, technologies, markets/geographies) Collect and analyze detailed student profile data to identify potential markets and demand (e.g. demographics, preferences, career) In collaboration with team members and colleagues, develop structured, repeatable methods and processes for collecting, analyzing, and presenting data Required Skills Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with demonstrated proficiency in data analysis and statistical techniques and tools (e.g. SPSS, SAS, SQL, R, relational databases, Excel, Cognos, Tableau) Experience with ETL from/to multiple data sources/platforms, including Salesforce, LMS and SIS platforms, Burning Glass, publishers, spreadsheets, etc. Ability to establish and manage relationships with external organizations (including small and large employers and research companies) to facilitate data collection Proven ability to establish and manage collaborative relationships with team members, subject matter experts, and senior leaders with the highest degree of professionalism Ability to explain the significance of data and trends to senior leaders Exemplary writing skills, including the ability to produce research reports for executive audiences Ability to meet timelines, manage projects, and perform responsibilities with minimal supervision Required Experience Bachelors degree in statistics, data analytics, market research, economics, or similar (Masters preferred) 3+ years of experience performing data collection, analysis, and presentation in a large, rapidly growing organization Familiarity with the higher education sector helpful Job Location Salt Lake City, Utah, United States Position Type Full-Time/Regular
