    Reports to: Director and Chief Curator, America's National Churchill Museum

    The Associate Director position acts as the Operational and Financial Manager of America’s National Churchill Museum (the “ANCM”.) The Associate Director exists to support and optimize the performance of the Director by:

    overseeing and managing the administrative, financial and operational functions of the ANCM;

    serving as the liaison between the Director and various individuals, organizations, and constituencies;

    building effective and collaborative relationships with internal and external constituencies; and

    representing the Director at meetings and functions when the Director cannot attend.

    The Associate Director is responsible for protecting, promoting, and advancing the interests of America’s National Churchill Museum and Westminster College (the “College”) by supporting the vision and goals of the Director and President of the College.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    The Associate Director focuses on implementation of strategy, financial and operational oversight, in conjunction with the Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer of the College, allowing the Director to focus on overall strategy, fundraising, long-term planning, and other decisions in consultation with the College’s President and ANCM Committee of the College’s Board of Trustees.

    The Associate Director will track strategic initiatives by monitoring progress toward reaching goals and achieving benchmarks, analyzing data, ensuring follow-through on the part of key players, and sustaining momentum needed to drive Museum initiatives and communicate these to the applicable constituencies on a timely basis.

    The Associate Director creates and operates a reporting system that allows for a timely flow of necessary data into the office of the Director from all relevant direct reports and the College departments including the inventory valuation of the Museum and fund-raising documentation.

    The Associate Director serves as a first alert system – keeping the Director aware of potential problems to be addressed or opportunities to be considered.

    The Associate Director develops and oversees a process for capturing, cataloging, analyzing, and disseminating key lessons to be learned from Museum initiatives, with a view toward helping the Director promulgate best practices throughout the Museum and College.

    The Associate Director functions in the role of “ambassador” for the Director, buffering communication with other members of the strategic team in cases where there are sensitive issues to be addressed.

    JOB REQUIREMENTS

    Education: Liberal arts degree or terminal business degree preferred

    Preferred Experience:

    Previous successful business experience across multiple industries, including higher education and/or museum administration;

    Successful record of financial and operational management. Strong and demonstrated financial and business acumen required;

    Experience creating and managing effective partnerships.

    Skills:

    Superior written, verbal communication, collaboration, and presentation skills;

    Excellent staff management, administrative and motivational skills;

    High-level data preparation and analysis, ability to develop predictive statistical models to improve the business operations of Museum;

    Substantive experience with technology across multiple functions and platforms.

    EQUIPMENT TO BE USED:

    Must be able to use contemporary electronic information systems including hardware and software used at the Museum and College, as well as other cloud-based and mobile applications.

    TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

    Requires sitting, standing, bending, lifting, and reaching. Requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate standard office equipment and mobile devices. Requires normal range of hearing and vision.

    WORKING CONDITIONS:

    Work is in an office setting within a secure museum environment. Some travel will be required.
