    POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT:

    Senior Financial Analyst

    Department: Business

    FLSA: Exempt

    Reports to: Associate VP for Business, Controller

    This position provides analytical and strategic support to internal employees and stakeholders for the College, driving continuous improvement to deliverables and processes supporting them. This position reports directly to the Controller and will provide assistance and financial acumen support to the Business Office of the College. This role acts as the analytical engine of the College to provide insights and to support ideal business decision making. Strong collaboration, data analysis and presentation, and process and tool development skills will be critical for the success of this role, along with having the ability to work independently on assigned tasks and responsibilities. Focus on accuracy and consistency of the data and information along with a thorough understanding of the complex relationship between key financial and operating drivers is required for this role.

    Essential Functions:

    Maintain budget calendar to ensure all required data is identified and on track. Ensure quality, accuracy and timeliness of the monthly reports, cash flow and financial forecasts as well as the annual budget preparation.

    Maintain forecasting and budgeting systems to provide consolidations and controls over submitted information.

    Evaluate optional plans by identifying outcomes and potential returns using NPV and ROI analyses.

    Analyze current and past trends in accounting and financial reports leveraging key performance indicators. Determine causes of unexpected variances.

    Improve organization's performance by evaluating processes to drive efficiencies and understanding of ROI in marketing programs, IT development, tuition pricing, new program development, etc.

    Participate in the monthly accounting activities and the overall financial planning of the College.

    Develop financial models and analysis to evaluate alternative strategic initiatives.

    Assist department leaders in the preparation and continuous monitoring of forecasts and budgets.

    Drive and cultivate collaborative relationships with department leaders to facilitate an understanding of key business drivers.

    Enhance operating efficiency as a member of the Business Office team, sharing best practices, and leveraging experience and knowledge.

    Assist controller in maintaining an effective internal control environment, compliance with GAAP, and corporate policies, and provide support for monthly accounting activities and audits.

    Develop requested ad-hoc reports as required.

    Job Requirements:

    *Education: Bachelor 's degree in Accounting required, MBA and/or CPA preferred.

    *Experience: 3-5 years in accounting or finance department, ideally involved in Financial Planning and Analysis activities/functions. Experience in a college environment is preferred.

    *Skills:

    Exceptional analytical skills, detail oriented

    Excellent communication skills both written and verbal with the ability to communicate with various levels of personnel

    Willingness to take on new initiatives

    Ability to work independently, self-motivated

    Ability to prioritize work load

    Use of electronic accounting and budgeting system

    Highly organized and able to work on multiple projects at one time.

    Adaptive to changing priorities and situations with the ability to follow through on completion of assignments.

    Supervisory Responsibilities:

    No direct reports.

    Equipment to be used:

    Must be able to operate standard office equipment and computer software for the business office including Microsoft Office suite and other database management systems (Jenzabar), along with other office machines such as the fax, copier, printer and multi-line telephone.

    Typical physical demands:

    Requires sitting, standing, bending and reaching. May require lifting up to 50 pounds. Requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate standard office machinery and requires normal range of hearing and vision. May be a possibility of evenings or weekends periodically.

    Working conditions:

    Private office in climate controlled building.
