The college enrolls nearly 25,000 students annually at its seven instructional sites, with graduates serving in critical fields including health care, emergency services, business, education, hospitality, engineering, technology and more.  We currently have an opportunity to join our team of talented and diverse Faculty and Staff as a PAYROLL AND BENEFITS ASSISTANT.  REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:  This position requires an Associate’s degree and four (4) years of related work experience and prior use of the Microsoft Office Suite. Strong technical and computer skills are also required.  DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:  Experience working in Payroll or Employee Benefits. Candidates with experience in PeopleSoft’s Human Capital Management (HCM) module will be given preference.      THIS IS A FULL-TIME, NON-EXEMPT POSITION WITH AN HOURLY RATE OF $16.83 with an approximate annual amount of $35,000.  POSTED DATE:  1/24/2023                                            CLOSING DATE:  2/1/2023 at 5:00 p.m.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

    • Provides support in payroll and benefit processing. Inputs, coordinates, and maintains all Payroll, FMLA, Sick Leave Pool and Workers’ Compensation data and files, including associated leave requests and reconciliations, timesheet verification, spreadsheet preparation and absence calculations.
    • Assist Payroll and Benefits with New Employee Orientation (preparation of all paperwork). Assist with all Employee Benefit activities and events (open enrollment, health fair, retiree reception, service awards etc.) Processes benefit enrollment changes (status changes) and performs HCM testing.
    • Enters and maintains personnel data/information in computer databases; performs record management in compliance with state retention requirements.
    • Assists with customer service and providing relevant information to faculty, staff, and students for the Benefits and Payroll Departments by answering telephone calls, employee inquiries, and performing other clerical duties.
    • Generates forms for the Payroll and Benefits Departments; prepares routine reports and vouchers, processes requisitions, purchase orders, invoices, and other related College paperwork.
    • Serves as liaison for information distribution to the College community and to outside sources including assisting staff with system and procedure questions.
    • Attend departmental, staff and other professional meetings, as requested, to exchange information.
     
    

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: 

    • Possess strong computer skills and have knowledge of software programs including Word and Excel.
    • Communicate well both verbally and in writing; be skilled in customer service and recordkeeping.
    • Detail oriented and ability to work independently.
    • Ability to multi-task, utilize time management and be well-organized.

    • Assist and support Project Engineers, Project Managers and Superintendents on assigned projects.
    • The Project Management Intern must be a flexible and adaptable team-player, as well as have strong communication and organizational skills.
    • Process submittals and gather/distribute information; manage high quality project documentation and process within budget and on schedule.
    • Attend project meetings and record meeting minutes.
    • Assist with the tracking and inspection of material deliveries.
    • Other miscellaneous tasks as assigned by the project team.
