    Education Programs Intern The World Affairs Education Program engages high school, community college and university students in World Affairs public programs, meet the speaker events, policy simulations, and research projects throughout the year. Summer 2018 interns will work within two major areas of focus. Our first priority is preparing for the fall 2018 policy simulation. This entails writing the simulation and preparing all necessary documents for participants. Second, interns will assist with the lesson planning for and facilitation of the Education Programs summer institute, which is a six-week program for high school and community college students. During this program students learn about international affairs through policy simulations, debates, presentations and speaker interviews. Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to: * Assisting with all facets of program planning, including: drafting letters, preparing mailings, compiling speaker biographies, designing marketing materials and preparing scripts. * Conducting speaker and topic research: compiling information from a wide range of news, magazine and video sources. * Providing Programs staff with logistical support during event preparation. We are looking for an intern with a high school diploma, a creative mind, fluency in social media, a vast knowledge of international affairs, excellent research skills and a friendly demeanor. Hours: 10 hours per week, including some evenings. Start date preferably in early June; end date in August. Start and end dates are flexible. Please include availability in cover letter. Compensation: This is a volunteer position. Interns will be reimbursed for monthly public transportation commuting costs. Interns are also welcome to attend World Affairs forums and other standard events free of charge and are given a one-year membership following the successful completion of the internship.
