    POSITION SUMMARY:

    The Structural Engineer III will function as the lead structural engineer on assigned projects and will also provide assistance and peer review on other projects.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Develop and analyze Modular and Stick-Build industrial structures for Manufacturing, Process and Renewable Natural Gas facilities. Structures to include but not be limited to equipment skids, pipe/process modules, and multi-level modular process towers.
    • Perform modeling and analysis of structures using software such as STAAD Pro.
    • Drive development of structural designs toward the most efficient and cost-effective approach for fabrication and installation.
    • Strong knowledge of and ability to apply the latest codes including IBC/ASCE7, AWSD1.1, AISI, AISC 360/341 and ACI 318.
    • Perform structural analysis on both steel and concrete structural systems.
    • Engineer/Analyze equipment foundations for static and dynamic loads on projects where included in scope.
    • Design and/or analyze structural systems for local seismic requirements where applicable. Research seismic requirements for specific location. Provide estimates of cost impact based on specific seismic requirements.
    • Maintain files of calculations and structural documentation on projects where assigned as structural engineer.
    • Interface directly with project Lead CAD/Designers, engineers and Project Managers to develop and coordinate structural system general arrangements and system details.
    • Check and approve design/fabrication drawings developed by R&A.
    • Check and approve structural steel fabrication detail drawings (shop drawings) and connection details.
    • Understand project scope and identify change orders.
    • Provide direction and assistance to junior designers and design/drafters.
    • Interface directly with Roeslein Modular Fabrication to review fabrication methods and regarding inspection of structural systems prior to delivery.
    • Assist with checking, updating and maintaining structural design standards and procedures.
    • Prioritize meeting project scopes while adhering to schedules and budgets.
    • Perform site visits occasionally to evaluate modifications required to existing platform and/or building structures.
    • Develop and maintain relationships with employees at all locations.
    • Conduct activities in a safe and healthy manner and work in accordance with established safety and company requirements.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT:

    Work is performed in an office and uncontrolled atmosphere. Exposure to harsh conditions—such as: dust, fumes, chemicals, hazardous materials, noise, and varying weather and temperatures—for short periods of time is possible. All employees are required to follow safety standards and wear all personal protective equipment in designated areas.


    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

    KNOWLEDGE / SKILL / ABILITY / EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Civil and/or Structural Engineering is required.
    • Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in design of industrial steel structures required.
    • Proficiency with either STAAD, RAM or RISA structural analysis software required.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are required.
    • Basic AutoCAD proficiency is preferred.
    • Excellent communication skills; both oral and written is required.
    • Exceptional attention to detail.
    • Excellent organization and planning skills.
    • Ability to effectively learn and acquire new knowledge and skills.
    • Computer skills and an in-depth knowledge of Microsoft Windows based programs are required.
    • Requires effective time management skills, personal conduct, and change management abilities.

    Job Responsibilities:

    • Develop test designs and plans for the execution of operational testing and reporting on the operational effectiveness of advanced Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) and Reentry Systems
    • Responsible for ICBM mission capability evaluations
    • Provide technical services to the customers' ICBM test & evaluation team though analytical and subject matter expertise focused on test planning, test execution, and data analysis of the Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) weapon system
    • Translate military users’ needs from acquisition program requirements to testable metrics
    • Participate in Integrated Test Teams (ITT) and engage program policies, developers, subject matter experts and the user community
    • Assist test team in planning, executing, analyzing and/or reporting on Operational Assessments (OA)
    • Assist test team in identifying opportunities to combine Operational Test (OT) activities with Development Test (DT) activities, described as Integrated Test and Evaluation (IT&E), and incorporate IT&E test data into dedicated OT reports
    • Work with customers' test teams to ensure customers' test plans include adequate measures of effectiveness (MOE) and suitability (MOS)
    • Participate in all relevant developmental and integrated testing, and conduct operational test, collect data where appropriate, perform data analysis, and report the results of each test event
    • Document analysis and test techniques for use in test design, planning, executing, and reporting of operational test activities
    • Prepare and deliver oral presentations within a high-level briefings environment to include training sessions, consultations, and strategy sessions
    • Collaborate with other internal and external organizational activities to secure cooperation, resolve controversial matters, and convey information relative to proposed changes in assigned programs
    • Develop and prepare a variety of correspondence and other documentation, i.e., bullet background papers, formal letters, position papers, reports, staff summary packages, studies briefings, charts, etc.
    • Attend working groups, planning teams, test events, or other meetings and conferences as required
