This is a unique opportunity to litigate while in house, and to participate in the dynamic environment of higher education.

Reporting directly to the Vice President and General Counsel, this attorney will advise on a variety of matters for the University, including representing and advising the trustees, executive officers, and administrative and academic units of the University with a focus on litigation in the areas of employment and complex commercial disputes; employment law counseling and policy development; faculty affairs; and student affairs. This attorney will litigate in state and federal court and represent the University before a range of administrative agencies. In addition to providing counsel to schools, colleges, and business units, the lawyer will help ensure compliance with applicable employment, student, and other regulatory requirements, including by developing policies and advising or participating on cross-functional committees and task forces.

Outstanding written and oral communication and interpersonal skills, strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, and a willingness to handle a broad range of legal matters, including, typically, multiple time-sensitive projects; some complex, high-profile matters; and routine day-to-day counseling. The successful candidate will be able to analyze complex issues, exercise excellent judgment to provide practical, effective advice to a broad range of clients, and work both independently and in a collaborative environment on a team of high-performing legal professionals.
