This position will work under the supervision of the Senior Environmental Scientist. This position functions as part of a team performing field operations for a data-driven natural resource management program in the Colorado Desert District which includes Anza-Borrego Desert, Cuyamaca Rancho, and Palomar Mountain State Parks. Tasks include working with staff and volunteers in the logistics, planning, development and implementation of the botany certification class curriculum for authorized park volunteers as a part of the district-wide volunteer program, non-native plant removal, prescribed fire, mapping and data entry and assist in report writing and tracking volunteer hours. Specific training for wildland fire and GIS data collection may be available and provided by State Parks or other organizations. Priority consideration will be given to any person receiving State public assistance under the CalWORKS program.
