Arup’s specialist Audiovisual, sound system, and multimedia design team is involved in cutting edge projects from interactive museums, high-end corporate events spaces, large scale LED installations, to stadium, arena, and concert hall AV systems.
RESPONSIBILITIES OF THIS SPECIFIC ROLE WILL INCLUDE, BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:
- Undertake AV systems design, 3D modelling, sound system calculations, and analytical research
- Assist with preparation of reports, drawings, sketches, models
- Visit project sites for inspections, measurements, commissioning, and testing
- Develop, document, and present concepts and designs using 2D and 3D drawing tools
- Interpret and apply codes and standard
- Review engineering and architectural drawings
- Participate in meetings, design reviews, and coordination sessions with clients and design teams
- Develop solutions to design issues using listening, critical thinking, application of knowledge, and visual demonstrations to clients
QUALIFICATIONS
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in acoustics, electroacoustics, sound recording, or electrical engineering OR a degree in science, architecture, engineering, music with demonstrated coursework in acoustics, electroacoustics, or related field
- Minimum of 3.0 GPA or higher
- Professional demeanor
- Skills in planning, prioritization, and organization
- Attitude of taking initiative, enthusiasm, and eagerness to learn
- Strong interpersonal, presentation and communication skills for internal and external collaborators
- Candidate must be eligible to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsored work authorization now or in the future.
PREFERRED:
- Knowledge of fundamental of acoustics, electroacoustics, audiovisual systems, digital signal processing, electronics, audiovisual control system programming, audio DSP programming
- A background/training in music practice, playing of a musical instrument can be useful
- Evidence of personal investment in academic or extracurricular field
- Acoustic and electroacoustic modeling experience: CATT, EASE, Odeon
- 3D modeling and drafting software: AutoCAD, Revit, Rhino, Sketchup
- Additional computing skills: Max/MSP, Unity Game Engine, Steam VR, Python, TouchDesigner, Disguise (D3), Houdini, OpenFrameworks, Java/OpenGL, Adobe creative suite, Cinema4D, Maya, Node.js, HMTL/CSS/SASS, React.js, Tone.js, MongoDB, WebVR, JavaScript/jQuery, Processing, Arduino, C# / C++, Ableton Live, Sound design (Foley, Music for films, Interactive / Generative sound design), Matlab, ProTools, Audition, Excel, Visual Basic
- Experience with recording, sound design, Foley, music for films, 3D sound, multimedia, interactive or generative sound design, live sound, video production, production/staging
- Experience with UI/UX design
