    The Opportunity

    • Utilize MicroStation and AutoCAD software to lay out right-of-way, rail alignments, and provisions for systems interfaces including catenary foundations, signal equipment, and duct banks, as well as civil interfaces including drainage, grade crossings, maintenance access and egress, utility systems, and grading
    • Reference applicable standards such as AREMA Manual of Railway Engineering, Agency Design Standards, NFPA-130, National Electric Code, and related specifications for design of the above elements
    • Recognize interdependence between skills in delivering sustainable outcomes
    • Understand keys to delivering stage specific work for best outcome at each stage of the project life cycle - planning, design, and construction phases
    • Support performance of construction phasing analysis
    • Support interdisciplinary coordination with Structures, Civil, Architecture, M/E/P, Communications, Signaling, Power, Catenary as well as Operations and Maintenance planning
    • Implementing techniques to develop and demonstrate quality work
    • Gain understanding of regulatory environment for gaining approval at different stages of project delivery
    • Gain understanding of wide range of disciplines and skills within Arup, andbig-picture awareness that permeates every skill area in Arup
    • Implement best practices for client communication and engagement
    • Participate in developing reports, calculations, plans, drawing and specifications which meet Arup format, style and quality requirements

    Qualifications

    • Pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in civil engineering
    • 3.0 GPA or higher preferred
    • Demonstrated interest in Rail & Transit Infrastructure
    • Sound knowledge of civil engineering fundamentals
    • Familiarity with civil design software
    • The ability to prioritize effectively, balance assigned work and exceptional organization skills required for our constantly evolving environment
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills essential for team-based working
    • Presentation skills with colleagues and clients of all levels
    • Candidate must be eligible to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsored work authorization now or in the future.

    Oakland Hiring Range - The good faith base salary hiring range for this job if performed in Oakland, CA is $26.00 to $37.00 per hour. Please note hiring ranges for candidates performing work outside of Oakland, CA will differ.

    Los Angeles Hiring Range - The good faith base salary hiring range for this job if performed in Los Angeles, CA is $23.50 to $35.00 per hour. Please note hiring ranges for candidates performing work outside of Los Angeles, CA will differ.

    San Francisco Hiring Range - The good faith base salary hiring range for this job if performed in San Francisco, CA is $26.00 to $37.00 per hour. Please note hiring ranges for candidates performing work outside of San Francisco, CA will differ.
