ABOUT THE SAN FRANCISCO STRUCTURAL BUILDINGS GROUP:

We are a group of roughly 20 Structural Engineers that sit together in our San Francisco Office, giving our group a "mid-sized office" feel within a much larger network. We work with other Arup offices often on large projects and share knowledge and skills daily.

We have a commitment to actively working towards an equitable and inclusive work environment all the way from our group level to the broadest reaches of our firm. This has been done through office-wide and regional equity diversity and inclusion committees since 2013.

We strive to work holistically with our project teams to deliver work aligned with sustainability goals. We often work closely with our Sustainability Specialists to track project carbon and influence material selection.

Our clients tend to be architects and we often work with our other Arup disciplines to deliver those projects. Some but not all those disciplines are Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Advanced Technology and Research, Sustainability, Acoustics, and Geotechnical.

Aside from the wealth of learning you will do on the job, there are ample additional training opportunities - at least one week per year is allotted for you to attend trainings such as self-guided courses or conferences. Arup also hosts events designed to gather engineers across our regional offices at different stages in their careers to promote growth, facilitate connections, and further Arup's design culture.
