Host Bunker Hills - Coon Rapids, MN Full-time, Part-time Company: Bunker Hills ABOUT KENDALLS TAVERN & CHOPHOUSE This acclaimed restaurant serves tavern-style food daily, a chophouse menu daily after 4:00 pm, and caters to up to 360 guests in the adjoining Event Center all on the beautiful Bunker Hills Golf Course. SUMMARY This position coordinates host activities within the restaurant with primary responsibility for ensuring food safety, quality, consistency and excellent guest service, to obtain optimum efficiency and economy of operations and maximize profits by performing assigned duties. Responsible for ensuring each guest receives a warm and sincere greeting; seating guests in appropriate sections; taking reservations; anticipating guests needs; assisting service and bus staff when necessary; and bidding each guest a warm and sincere farewell. Ensures exceptional guest service through communication and follow-up with employees and guests. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Authentic Hospitality: * Ensures a positive guest experience through personal interactions. * Ensures prompt, courteous, and professional service. * Provides exceptional communication with a high degree of professionalism and engagement. * Identifies and provides additional services for clients and guests, elevating the guest experience in hospitality. * Responds to guests needs and comments in accordance with facility and MHC standards and policies to ensure a positive experience. Position Duties: * Assists with ensuring smooth operations including: set up, service and clean up. * Provides organization and communication. * Professionally answers all incoming phone calls and takes reservations utilizing appropriate standardized phone etiquette and dialogue. * Maintains event listings in Open Table Reservation System. * Assists in updating Open Table with proper reservation sheets according to event times. * Assists with the maintenance of the reservation system with an aggressive approach to selling the seats and maximizing revenues by strategic seating. * Checks reservations daily to control over and under booking. * Performs reservation confirmations. * Assists in the maintenance of the email inbox. * Arranges parties or special services for patrons. * Responsible for communicating large party details and high volume days to management. * Works with the manager/supervisor on planning meal period seating strategy and assigns tables in conjunction with listed restaurant reservations with the direction of the manager/supervisor.. * Maintains work tasks to ensure prompt and courteous service while developing an effective flow of guests through the Dining Room & Bar - achieving maximum densities in seating whenever possible. * Provides positive guest recognition and relations through personal performance and attention to guest history, including familiarizing himself/herself with regular patrons and VIP guests and informs management of guest relations opportunities. * Greets guests in a timely and professional manner, escorts guests to tables and provides menus upon seating. * Ensures seating counts are as equitable as possible for all servers. * Assists patrons with coats and performs basic coat check functions as needed. * Monitors and maintains cleanliness of dining room and foyer including but not limited to, restrooms, music types and sound levels, lighting, temperature, hourly floor and side station cleanliness, and spot cleaning, etc. * Assists in coordinating activities of bus and service staff to ensure proper table set-ups and prompt and courteous service to patrons. * Monitors and observes guests dining experience. Ensures guests are satisfied with food and service, and responds promptly and courteously to all requests. * Responds to guest questions. Provides guest assistance, direction and information as needed. * Supports servers and bus staff on the floor with bussing dirty tables, cleaning floors, arranging tables, and filling water glasses. * Thanks guests by name for their visit and invites them to return. * Maintains, stocks and updates seating charts, menu signage and department files to ensure an adequate supply is available and accurate information is communicated. * Cleans and updates menus and menu signage. Ensures menu supplies are adequate for business demands (menu covers, back up menus, special inserts etc.) and orders additional inventory as needed. * Stocks all host supplies and completes daily and weekly shift duty assignments. * Responsible for the sale of proper Gift Card transactions and associated paperwork. * Performs basic transactions such as the sale of To-Go orders. * Assists management in calling service staff with schedule changes as needed and directed by management and in accordance with union guidelines. * Assists management in maintaining training programs for host staff based on Bunker Hills standards. * Maintains adequate supply of point of sale paper and stocks as needed. * Assists management with projects and tasks that support the restaurant and host stand. * Offers administrative support for the restaurant. * Assists the Private Dining Sales Manager with reporting activities and inquiries for the Private Dining Spaces at Bunker Hill. * Attends required meetings, pre-meal meetings and training sessions as assigned. * Exercises care, performs required maintenance and ensures all operating instructions, safety standards and guidelines are followed in relation to Bunker Hills equipment and/or facility assets. * Uses the host checklist to ensure no task is missed.
