    Purpose of Job

    The purpose of this job is to perform professional accounting activities required in the business operation of the Georgia Lottery Corporation. Duties include, but are not limited to: preparing spreadsheets, auditing accounts, posting journals and performing additional tasks as assigned by the Senior Vice President of Finance.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    The following duties are normal for this job. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.

    Reviews and balances various COAM general ledger integration files (licensing, net daily activity, etc.).

    Prepares and maintains various COAM accounting and financial reports (receivables, payables, revenues, and expenses) on a daily, periodic, or ad hoc basis for distribution to GLC management.

    Maintains accounts of and records for miscellaneous COAM deposits received.

    Generates and/or prepares licensing refunds and voids for processing.

    Prepares and inputs monthly COAM journal entries into the GLC’s automated accounting system.

    Assists with research and resolution of moderate COAM financial accounting anomalies.

    Participates, as required, in monthly financial closings and preparation of related financial schedules.

    Tracks, monitors and reconciles various general ledger accounts on a periodic and routine basis.

    Assists with new accounting software implementation and conversion processes, as necessary.

    Responds to questions, complaints and request for information by telephone, in person or mail, employees etc.

    Minimum Training and Experience Required to Perform Essential Job Functions

    Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required, with a minimum of one year of accounting or bookkeeping experience. Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel required. Solid written and verbal communications skills required. Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience, which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job, may be substituted for required educational degree.

    Preferred Experience: Automated accounting software experience; standard accounting and bookkeeping experience (e.g., bank account reconciliations, general ledger account reconciliations, etc.)
