Position Duties & Description: Design Museum is seeking an Events intern
to join our team and assist us in planning, designing, developing and
executing high quality educational and social events. Design Museum is a
nomadic museum, meaning we dont have a single physical location ? we
plan events in unique locations all over the city to be as accessible
and interesting as possible. Attention to detail and organization are
essential components of this internship, as our events are always in
different spaces and in collaboration with different people. Innovative
thinking and obtaining the highest quality speakers and partners are key
to ensure we continue to educate and delight our audience. The Events
intern will tackle challenges at multiple levels that are specific to
Design Museums unique approach to delivering inspirational,
transformational, and educational experiences. Intern Responsibilities:
- Professional correspondence and co-marketing with partner companies *
Writing event descriptions * Researching engaging event experiences,
speakers, and topics * Planning logistics * Managing event web tools
(MailChimp/Eventbrite) * Event planning and site visits * Hands on at
events, able to lift 50 lbs * Ability to solve problems, work
independently and in groups * Able to take feedback, willingness to
learn new skills Experience necessary: * Graphic design a plus! *
Photography or multimedia production * Work experience in fast-paced
setting * Event production or management * Copywriting and social media
marketing * Comfortable working on multiple projects simultaneously *
Ability to troubleshoot & solve problems on the spot! * Passion for
working with many different types of people! * Knowledge of the
following tools/processes: * Familiar with Adobe CreativeSuite (in
particular Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) * Pages, Keynote, and
Numbers * Googledocs, Dropbox, social media channels, Eventbrite,
Mailchimp, Hootsuite Were looking for someone who: * Is available to
work some early morning and evening events (about 2 per month) * Has
their own computer * Is a self-starter, able to pick up parts of a
project and contribute * Is a collaborator, able to work with a team and
boost its effectiveness * Is adaptable, able to pivot and move forward
with new constraints * Is a planner, able to anticipate needs and put
detailed plans in place for the future Availability Requirements Must be
available at least 20 hours per week during Tuesday Friday, on-site at
Design Museums office in the Pearl District. About Design Museum: Design
