    Personal Training at Equinox

    Equinox Personal Trainers provide personalized attention, professional instruction, and exercise programming to maximize each member’s health, fitness, and wellness goals while providing the highest level of customer service.

    Skillbridge Program Objective

    Equinox is excited to offer a unique opportunity for active military members in the Department of Defense (DoD) through our Skillbridge military transition program. This is designed to help military personnel transition into the civilian workforce by gaining hands-on experience and developing skills that are directly transferable to civilian employment. We will provide a structured framework for service members to acquire practical skills and experiences in Personal Training that can facilitate a smoother transition into the civilian workforce.

    Equinox is proudly recognized as the industry leader in Personal Training, with the first in-house education of its kind through the Equinox Fitness Training Institute (EFTI). To start our program, you will spend your first week in our Equinox Coaching Program. As a participant, you will be studying foundational knowledge of anatomy, physiology, kinesiology, nutrition, and performance protocols.

    Upon passing your Personal Training Certification, you will begin work as a practicing Personal Trainer and your education will continue with EFTI as you design comprehensive client fitness programs that are safe, effective, and results-driven.

    As the authority in Personal Training, our Trainers create custom programs designed according to Members’ needs and provide a holistic, progressive, and pragmatic plan grounded in the sciences of movement, nutrition, and regeneration.

    Role Expectations

    • Complete study course provided by Equinox, powered by Lionel University in a week’s time

    • Upon completion of the course and the final exam, you would be able to begin work as a Personal Trainer.

    • Service members will be given the opportunity to participate in our in-house proprietary education program, Equinox Fitness Training Institute (EFTI), along with Tier III, 3+ and X trainers. This in-depth curriculum will help to evaluate service members based on their ability to learn quickly, perform, motivate, and educate others.

    • Demonstrate a comprehensive learning & understanding of the below certification objectives:

    • Foundational knowledge in exercise science, anatomy, physiology, and nutrition to effectively design safe and effective exercise programs

    • The importance of conducting fitness assessments and how to create personalized programs based on the assessment results

    • Acquisition of coaching techniques and strategies to effectively communicate with clients, set goals, and track progress

    • Injury Prevention strategies and corrective exercise techniques to avoid common injuries and address existing injuries

    • Expertise in designing personalized programs for special populations, adapting exercise programs with medical conditions, and understanding nutrition principles for different fitness goals

    Key Responsibilities

    • Administer fitness evaluations (Equifits), orientations, stretching and personal training sessions

    • Establish and maintain a personal training client base according to company standards

    • Provide a high level of personalized attention to members

    • Maintain knowledge and/or participation in all club services, programs and products

    • Instruct and demonstrate to members on the proper use of equipment and exercise techniques which may include operating equipment and dynamically moving weight up to 50 pounds

    • Provide each member and potential member with the best quality customer service

    • Regular and predictable attendance

    • Attend Personal Training related meetings

  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • Active duty military status within the last 180 days of service, eligible for the DoD Skillbridge Program

    • Participation approval by the service member’s commanding officer

    • Intent to transition into a civilian career

    • Possess passion, ambition, drive, and knowledge regarding fitness

    • Ability to work in-person during weekdays/weekends

    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

    • Possess honesty, personal integrity, passion, ambition, and drive

    • Excel in time management, organizational and follow-up skills

    • Reliable, professional, computer literate, energetic, and friendly

    ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    Must be able to perform all essential physical aspects of the position which may include standing, sitting, running, walking, jumping, squatting, bending, and reaching. As well as pushing, pulling and lifting up to 50 lbs at a time.

    AS A MEMBER OF THE SKILLBRIDGE PROGRAM YOU WILL RECEIVE:

    • Active military participation to gain civilian work experience

    • Personal Training Certification upon completion of exam at no cost
