Fitness Connection - Group X Instructor (Part Time)
Title: Group X Instructor
Reports to: Regional Group X Manager
Supervises: N/A
Position Summary:
The Group X Instructors will lead members, in a group environment, through a pre-arranged class format f exercises designed to enhance overall fitness, strength and endurance, while ensuring the safety of the members is not compromised. The Group X Instructors will also serve as a resource to educate members on various aspect of fitness.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Conduct facility walk thrus to ensure the cleanliness of the facility
Leads and delivers group fitness classes based on industry standards and approved formats that begin and end promptly and adheres to the format, standards, and time scheduled
Instructs participants on effective workout methods; explains proper techniques, demonstrates exercises, identifies different muscle groups and teaches appropriate methods and modifications
Provides verbal instruction that are clean and ensure that the volume, tempo, and overall atmosphere is motivational and conductive to hearing, teaching, learning and having fun
Coaches and motivates class participants to achieve fitness goals and continually monitors for signs of injury, illness or overexertion
Ensure that all participants are using correct form during class and offers modifications and variations of the activities to accommodate all fitness levels
Maintains and demonstrates a positive and professional attitude towards his/her responsibilities, team members, members, and guests
Prepare appropriate music for class while refraining from using music with offensive language
Ensure all equipment is functioning correctly and have microphones ready
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the Group X room
Promptly notifies management of any equipment or facility repair needs
Uphold Fitness Connection’s company vision, mission, core values and code of conduct
Comply with all Fitness Connection policies and procedures
Maintains cleanliness and organization of the Group X room by ensuring equipment is put away and sound system is turned off when not in use
Attend all required staff meetings as necessary and willingness to attend training in order to maintain teaching skills or improve/expand current skill level
Attends all mandatory and staff meetings
Performs related duties assigned
Qualifications:
Current CPR/AED certification and basic first aid training is required
Maintain nationally recognized Group fitness certification
Provide verifiable proof of specialized skill/training such as Yoga, Pilates, Body Pump, and Body Attack etc.
Ability to work at a fast paced environment
Ability to handle multiple tasks and challenges
Willing to obtain all certifications or CEC’s required
Excellent Communication Skills
High degree of energy and be physically fit to have the ability to complete the workout
Knowledge of group fitness teaching strategies and the incorporation of chorography and safe transitional movement patterns, music, tempo, cueing technique and rhythm
Demonstrated engage and motivational leadership with adaptability at the front of a class to effectively engage participants and achieve a great member experience
Willingness to fill in classes at your Home Club and other locations if needed
Willingness to Support & Participate with Club Promos, On-sites, Community Events, etc.
