Position Summary
The following provides a detailed description for the position of HR Vice President (HRVP). Actual duties performed may vary slightly. HRD will team with the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) to make people and the workplace the driving force behind Fitness Connection’s success. The HRD will achieve this by partnering with the CAO strategically and then ensuring execution in the following areas: talent management, compensation, benefits management, employee experience, being an employee voice, employee relations, performance evaluations, HRIS management, reporting and compliance. This will be carried out by observing our core values such that our employees will feel the company cares and know we are ethical and that the company stakeholders will also know that our decisions are made to increase profitability.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Talent Management and Employee Experience
Organizational structure design and planning and development of team into the structure
Setup and oversee a system (to include an applicant tracking system) that efficiently generates qualified applicants that can be delivered to hiring managers as needed
Create and distribute content that helps hiring managers select the best talent
Champion and oversee onboarding of new employees (new hire processing and orientation)
Teaming with the National Education and Development Manager for designing and executing people skills and HR based Training and development content and delivery
Create and implement employee engagement strategies to help increase performing employee retention
Visit locations to ensure club and employee standards exceed company expectations
Compensation and Benefits Management
Ensure all policies, documents and procedures are compliant with the latest rules and regulations regarding compensation, employment matters and benefits
Execution of payroll and benefits is accurate, compliant and on time
Compensation and benefits plan design assistance to ensure plans are compliant and at the market level company deems as a target to attract and retain top performing talent
Communicate and educate leaders and employees on compensation, benefits, policy interpretation
Employee Relations
Ensure generalist team is able to respond to questions or concerns from multi-level employees in accordance with our core values and all state and federal regulations
Deal with higher risk employee relations issues and communicate situations with the executive team
Make certain our processes and documentation around employee issues are compliant and observed
Ensure department is properly processing all worker’s compensation and unemployment claims
Performance Management
Champion performance management philosophy
Assist in creating and executing a system for evaluating employees and tying successful evaluations to rewards, raises and/or promotions
Reporting and Compliance
Use of data to drive decisions that show an increase in profitability
Maintains knowledge of industry trends and employment legislation to ensure compliance
All government, regulatory and vendor required reporting and record keeping is properly executed
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
System proficiency: Paycom, Microsoft Office Suite, Applicant Tracking Systems
Bilingual English/Spanish desirable
Understand government, legal, regulatory and vendor requirements, opinions and such regarding subjects covered in this job description
Required Experience, Education and Certifications
Degree in Human Resources or related field
10 years experience in Human Resources
Experience with payroll and benefits management or execution
7 years experience in a HR leadership role
Experience in the fitness, retail, or service industry
PHR / SPHR certification required
Physical Demands
Willingness to work flexible hours, nights, weekends, and holidays when needed
Office environment with market visits as needed
