    JOB SUMMARY

    The purpose of this job is to perform professional accounting activities required in the business operation of the Georgia Lottery Corporation. Duties of the position include preparing spreadsheets, analyzing general ledger accounts, journal entry preparation, and performing additional tasks as assigned by the Manager, Accounting and Financial Reporting.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    Duties include, but are not limited to:

    Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and supporting documents including reports presented to the Board of Directors

    Prepares journal entries and general ledger reconciliations for moderate to complex accounting activity

    Researches and resolves complex financial anomalies and prepares required journal entries

    Prepares required financial schedules for annual interim and year-end audit

    Coordinates accounts payable activities

    Prepares and compiles information/data for state and federal statutory/compliance reporting.

    Prepares and reviews various financial reports on a daily, periodic, or ad hoc basis

    Monitors and updates internal accounting procedures and recommends changes where required

    KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

    Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required, with three to five years of accounting or bookkeeping experience.

    Intermediate to Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel is preferred.

    Solid written and verbal communications skills required.

    CPA or CPA candidate preferred.

    Experience in preparation of periodic corporate financial statements, including related schedules and reconciliations are preferred. Automated accounting software proficiency is also preferred.

    Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience, which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job, may be substituted for required educational degree.
