  • Responsibilities

    The Respiratory Therapist will be responsible and accountable for the respiratory management, treatment, control and care of patients with respiratory deficiencies in Home Health and Hospice. Will demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care in the adult and geriatric patient population. Possess the ability to assess data reflective of patient status and interpret the appropriate information to identify a patient's respiratory care requirements. Therapist will implement and follow the patient’s plan of care as ordered by the patient’s physician. Therapist will collaborate with the Home Health interdisciplinary team to ensure improvements in independence and self-management, quality of life, and decreased rehospitalizations in patients with respiratory disease. Collaboration with the Hospice interdisciplinary team is focused upon pain management and psychological comfort in patients with terminal respiratory disease.

    Required Skills

    • Possess a broad knowledge of all modes of respiratory therapy being performed in a patient’s home.
    • Must be adept at auscultation of the chest and physical assessment of the patient and monitoring of vital signs.
    • Exhibit skills and ability to properly understand and operate electronic monitoring devices.
    • Basic computer knowledge and skills.
    • Demonstrate good communication skills, verbal and written.

    Required Experience

    • Licensed RCP by State of California.
    • Registered Respiratory Therapist.
    • One year acute care experience.
    • Competent to assess the appropriate care given to neonate, pediatric, adolescent, or geriatric patient.
    • Maintain Adult ACLS and BCLS certification.
    • Current California driver’s license and valid auto insurance.
    • Home Health/Hospice experience preferred.
