    THE LEADERSHIP MENTORING PROGRAM IS DESIGNED TO HELP DEVELOP HIGH PERFORMING TEAM MEMBERS, ASSISTANT LEADS, LEADS AND AREA LEADS FOR FUTURE PROMOTION AND EVENTUALLY SALARIED SUPERVISOR LEVEL POSITIONS WITHIN THE COMPANY.  THIS IS A ONE YEAR PROGRAM WHERE THE PARTICIPANT IS PAIRED WITH AN EXPERIENCED MEMBER OF LEADERSHIP AS THEY WORK THROUGH VARIOUS CHALLENGING DEVELOPMENTAL ACTIVITIES DESIGNED TO IMPROVE AND ADVANCE THE PARTICIPANTS PERSONALLY AND PROFESSIONALLY. 

    Additional duties may be assigned.  Your mentor retains the discretion to change or add to the activities of this program based on each participant’s personal level of growth at any time.  The activities and responsibilities of the program are included but not limited to the below: 

    UNDERSTAND THE POSITIVE DISCIPLINARY PROCESS INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

    • Observe, participate in and lead coaching sessions, corrective actions, and terminations
    • Observe, participate in and lead performance reviews
    • Observe, participate in and lead team meetings

     

    DEVELOP STRATEGIC BUSINESS PLANNING SKILLS INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

    • Observe, participate in and create weekly, monthly and yearly budget planning
    • Observe, participate in and create operational schedules adhere to labor budgets
    • Observe, participate in and lead strategic meetings

     

    MANAGE DAILY OPERATIONS FOR DEPARTMENTAL NEEDS INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

    • Observe, participate in and lead job fairs, interview processes and departmental training
    • Assist, participate in and develop goals focusing on team participation and achievement
    • Observe, assist and independently act as departmental duty manger
    • Observe and autonomously satisfy a guest complaint

     

    ADMINISTER PROJECT INITIATIVES THAT WILL DEVELOP POSITIVE CHANGE IN OUR BUSINESS INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

    • Initiate and successfully implement a minor project
    • Develop, present and implement an identity project
    • Observe and independently create a written planning document

     

    MAINTAIN ALL PARK SAFETY POLICIES INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

    • Develop a “what if” philosophy for park-wide employee and guest safety
    • Identify and fix all safety issues
    • Complete an incident report
    • Adhere to all park safety policies and procedures

     

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:  CARRIED OUT IN ACCORDANCE WITH APPLICABLE SAFETY POLICIES AND LAWS.  RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT NO LIMITED TO: 

    • Appraising, rewarding, and disciplining employees, taking immediate corrective action if necessary
    • Ensuring proper and on time opening and closing of operations
    • Manage by walking around through park locations to ensure park standards are met
    • Ensuring staff adherence to proper grooming standards
    • Ensuring staff adherence to all hospitality standards to exceed guest expectations
    • Ensuring staff adherence to safety regulations

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    While performing the duties of this job the employee is required to sit for long periods of time and walk.  The employee must be able to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms.  The employee is frequently required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.  The employee is frequently required to talk and hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move carry, push, or pull 30 pounds particularly regarding storage and paper boxes.  Specific vision requirements for this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to focus.  Must be able to take cues directly or indirectly. 

    WORK ENVIRONMENT

    Must be able to participate in all SMP leadership development classes including but not limited to:

    • Intro to Interviewing
    • SMP HR Initiatives

    Required Experience

    HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA OR EQUIVALENT REQUIRED

    MINIMUM OF 1-2 YEARS’ EXPERIENCE WORKING IN A CUSTOMER SERVICE INDUSTRY REQUIRED

    WE STRONGLY PREFER PREVIOUS COLLEGE COURSE WORK OR TECHNICAL SCHOOL EXPERIENCE IN:

    • HOSPITALITY
    • FOOD AND BEVERAGE
    • CULINARY
    • BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION
    • MARKETING
