    SUMMARY:

    Adventure Aquarium is seeking a Human Resources leader with strategic experience and solid business acumen to play a key role in attracting and retaining the best talent across the organization. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on leader with high energy that likes to work in an entrepreneurial environment. The ideal candidate will be experienced in partnering with the senior leadership team of an organization to achieve the Aquariums strategic plan.

    WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:

    • Lead, develop and implement HR strategies that align and support the business needs and outcomes.
    • Advise, facilitate and collaborate with the various departments of the aquarium on strategic plans as well as day-to-day operations.
    • Develop and establish personnel policies, practices and systems consistence with federal, state and local laws. Maintain appropriate records and prepare reports as required or compliance.
    • Establish and maintain systems for monitoring employee work performance; work with managers to assure that employees receive regular feedback regarding their performance.
    • In accordance with organizational goals, develop and establish systems for identifying department and individual training needs, career goals and develop appropriate programs.
    • Administer employee benefit and insurance programs including health, life, dental, disability, unemployment, workers compensation and pension plans. Represent the Aquarium to various regulatory agencies, occupational health providers and other groups.
    • Serves as EEO liaison, disseminates information and address’ complaints.
    • Direct leaders in determining staffing requirements; develop and implement recruitment strategies for full and part-time employees.
    • Maintain records, prepare and evaluates data as required for external and internal needs.
    • Correspond with various government and social bodies in matters relating to taxes and garnishments.
    • Develops and manages department budget; manages daily department operations and team.

    Required Skills

    WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Master’s degree preferred.
    • 7-10 years of strategic HR experience. Experience in the hospitality industry preferred.
    • 4+ years’ experience in Organizational Development
    • Knowledge of Employment Law best practices, state and federal laws
    • Experience in Training and Development and Recruitment
    • Excellent communication skills and able to handle sensitive, confidential material responsibly
    • Ability to work independently and cooperatively as part of a team
    • Ability to travel locally to attend expos and networking events both during and outside of scheduled hours
    • Ability to work a flexible schedule including some weekends, evenings, and holidays

     

    SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

    • Successful completion of pre-employment drug screening and background check
    • Allergies related to animals or plants, which might interfere with ability to work, must be controlled by medications or protective equipment.
    • Ability to speak, read, and write effectively in English
    • Ability to operate a computer and keyboard
    • Ability to sit and stand for long periods of time
