    Spring Internship: Membership Spring Internship: Membership Summary Title: Spring Internship: Membership ID: 1279 Department: Internship Description Objective The Membership Intern will gain an in-depth look at how Shedd cultivates and engages members. Summary As a non-profit, Shedd is dependent on more than just ticket sales. In fact, roughly 25% of Shedds operating budget is generated through donations. Gifts to Shedd can come in many shapes and sizes, but many are made through Membership. In giving a gift to become a member, one becomes part of the Shedd family. From supporting everyday operations to sending a team of animal care experts halfway around the world to help rehabilitate hundreds of stranded penguins, our members make a difference. This intern will assist in engaging this partnering with the Membership team in developing acquisition and retention strategies, tracking trends, and implementing programming to engage members. Responsibilities & Duties Demonstrate a commitment to Shedds mission, vision, and values. Partner with the membership team on outreach and engagement efforts regarding membership renewals, thank-yous, and upcoming member events. Work with membership staff to create and implement retention and acquisition strategies. Help analyze current member trends and traits, and assist in implementation of response strategies as needed. Collaborate with staff to provide copy and gather content for member communications Participate in onsite member events. Assist with inventory management. Other projects as assigned Qualifications Enrolled as a junior or senior in an undergraduate program, or a recent graduate. Studying within one of these majors: Business Administration, Communications, Marketing, Management, Non-Profit Administration, Hospitality Management, or related. Previous internship or job experience in non-profit or for-profit industries may be helpful, but not required. Ability to handle multiple projects, strong communication skills, and an outgoing and friendly personality. Must maintain confidentiality. Ability to learn Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system. Proficient with Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel. Outlook experience required. Time Commitment 2-3 days per week. Some evening or weekend support may be needed for Development Department events. Exact schedule based on intern availability.
