    OPPORTUNITY: We are a folding carton manufacturing operation seeking candidates to join our Sturgis, MI team. We’re recruiting for multiple positions so be sure you review all of our job postings.  This job posting is for a SECONDARY PRESS OPERATOR.

     

    PAY RATE: $26.17_ /HR_

    PLUS, SHIFT PREMIUM: $0.15 – 0.25/HR

     

    SCHEDULE REQUIREMENTS: 

    Monday – Friday, 8 hour shifts. THIS IS A 2ND OR 3RD SHIFT POSITION. Candidate will receive training on 1st shift.  Must be willing and able to work weekends and overtime as required.

    JOB SUMMARY:

    Performs a wide variety of duties to prepare, operate and maintain the lithographic printing presses in the Printing Department.

     

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    1. Mount and register printing plates.
    2. Set-up proper color rotation of inks by cleaning and filling the ink fountains.
    3. Generate Load Tags to identify each printed load.
    4. Assist the 1st Press Operator in operating the lithographic printing press.
    5. Monitor the fountain solution and aqueous coating while the job is running.
    6. Monitor the ink in the fountains in all of the units on the lithographic printing press.
    7. Assist the 1st Press Operator with establishing the correct settings on the lithographic printing press. Ie: rollers, packing, pressures.
    8. Capable of lifting in excess of 50 lbs.
    9. Participate in any tasks necessary to allow for continuous operation of the process.
    10. Follow all Plant Safety rules and maintain a safe working environment.
    11. Assist the 1st Press Operator to monitor the level of quality in the products being produced.
    12. Comply with the Consolidated Standards for Inspection – Food Contact Manufacturing Facilities through AIB International.

      

    ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

    1. Collect Statistical Process Control (SPC) Data as required.
    2. Participate in Continuous Process Improvement Activities as required.

     

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Basic math, reading and writing skills are required to perform this job. The ability to read a ruler to within 1/32” is necessary. General computer skills are needed to operate the console on the press. Operator must be able to pass a test for color blindness.
