    SALARY: $15/hr + DOQ SCHEDULE: 40+ hours per week. Mon-Fri, weekends and holidays required during season.  POSITION START DATE:  03/01/2022 BENEFITS AVAILABLE: Health Insurance & Paid time off OVERVIEW: 

    The Golf Maintenance III position is responsible for routine maintenance work, daily set up, mowing involved in the care and upkeep of the golf course and clubhouse grounds, equipment and facilities using a variety of mowing equipment, tractors and vehicles.  This position commonly works over 30 hours.   ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

    1. Maintenance of golf course areas (i.e., mowing, weeding, divot repair, trash removal).
    2. Maintenance of sand bunkers (i.e., power and hand raking, weeding, edging).
    3. Maintenance of ornamental beds, shrubs, and trees (i.e., planting, watering, weeding, mulching, pruning).
    4. Operate and maintain small maintenance vehicles, mowers, string trimmers and other small equipment.
    5. Assist in the daily set up of the golf course (i.e., cup changing, tee placement and other related duties).
    6. Operate tractors, trucks and other large equipment.
    7. Mow golf course grounds using reel and rotary riding mowers.
    8. Help in project work; (i.e., assist in the construction of new greens, tees and fairways; grade and prepare soil base; lay sod; and seed tees, greens, fairways and other turf areas).
    9. Assist with fertilizer applications.
    10. Assist with operating the irrigation system and hand watering.
    11. Demonstrate and support park district customer service standards.
    12. Follow district and departmental safety, personnel, and administrative policies, procedures and ordinances.

      OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Clean and maintain golf course facilities and equipment.
    • Maintain and repair irrigation system.
    • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

       

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

    • Ability to follow oral and written directions.
    • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
    • Ability to operate riding mowers, maintenance vehicles, tractors, small power equipment and hand tools safely.
    • Some knowledge of the game of golf.

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

    • Valid driver's license.
    • Two (2) years previous grounds maintenance work, preferably golf course related.
    • High school diploma or equivalent.

     

    SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS:

    • Must be at least 18 years old.
    • Subject to modified/flexible work schedule during high volume work periods.
    • Must be available on weekends and holidays. 
    • Subject to both inside and outside environmental conditions.
    • Ability to occasionally lift heavy weight (>50 lbs.) objects.
