The Oklahoma City Zoological Park & Botanical Garden is seeking an enthusiastic and progressive HR Generalist to join its Human Resources team. The HR Generalist administers various human resources plans and procedures for all company personnel and collaborates in development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures. Responsible for recruitment and orientation of new staff for the company. Provides input and follow up on company policies, participates in developing department goals, objective and systems. All employees are expected to be sensitive to our guests cultural and socioeconomic characteristics, reflect the Oklahoma City Zoos core values and to perform at company standards of excellence at all times to support and model the Zoos mission, vision and values. Essential Functions of the Position * Demonstrate capacity to perform duties exhibiting the highest ethical standards, incorporating best practice, exemplifying the values expected within the department, and for promoting the mission of the organization. * Responsible for daily HR functions, including background checks, personnel tracking, job postings, new employee orientations and onboarding. * Conducts recruitment effort for all exempt and nonexempt personnel, part-time, temporary employees. Assists in the interview process and hiring decisions as needed. * Determine recruitments successfully meet agency, state and federal requirements for employment. Makes recommendations to Sr. HR Director and appropriate executive team member regarding outcome of pre-employment screening and takes appropriate action. * Collaborates with management regarding employee relations coaching and exit interviews. * Develops and maintains relationships with employment agencies, education institutions and other recruitment sources. * Explain benefits and payroll to employees and serve as a backup to the Payroll and Benefits Specialist. * Create and maintain personnel and files via approved method (paper or electronic). * Coordinate and maintain HRIS information. * Recommends new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of department and services performed. * Advise HR director of existing or potential problem areas. * Performs other duties as determined by the Sr. Human Resources Director and senior management. Minimum Qualifications * Bachelors Degree in Human Resource Management or business related field. * 3+ years of experience working in a Human Resources setting in a professional (exempt qualified) capacity. * OR, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed in this job description. * Familiarity with local, state and federal laws and experience working with these laws. * Must possess a valid Oklahoma motor vehicle operators license and pass a Drivers History check to operate Zoo vehicles. * Successful completion of pre-employment background check and drug test.
