  • Responsibilities

    THIS IS A YEAR ROUND, FULL TIME HOURS POSITION. 

    As a RIDE MECHANIC, you’ll be responsible for the upkeep of some of Silver Dollar City’s more than 40 thrilling rides and attractions. Guests travel from all around the country to experience our wide range of attractions, and our team of mechanics works tirelessly behind the scenes to make sure the rides stay up and running safely whenever the park is open. Silver Dollar City’s attractions range from the family-friendly Fireman’s Landing to roller coasters like Powder Keg, Outlaw Run and Wild Fire that rise several stories above our park – so be prepared to work at all altitudes. You will be inspecting rides, performing preventative maintenance and making corrective repairs as necessary, always troubleshooting to determine the most feasible way to solve any problem you may encounter. We’re looking for a safety-conscious self-starter who knows their way around pneumatics, hydraulics, motors and conveyors – and can make an immediate contribution to the team.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Understanding and general knowledge of industry standards, methods, practices, procedures, tools, and material used in the maintenance and repair of rides and attractions, buildings, service equipment, or similar mechanical operations.
    • Understanding of OSHA and safety procedures used in maintenance activities.
    • Skill in the use and care of tools and equipment.
    • May perform tasks in one or more skilled trade areas depending on assignment.
      • Typical examples include the following: Pneumatics, hydraulics, motors, conveyors, control systems and component parts.
    • Will inspect and diagnose problems and determine the best feasible way to correct them.
    • Dismantling devices and control instruments, and repairing or replacing defective parts.
    • Operate devices to test performance.
    • Perform technical inspections, routine preventive and scheduled maintenance.
    • Ability to prepare basic paper records and reports.
    • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
    • Ability to complete assignments correctly, in a safe and timely manner, and according to code.
    • Ability to work independently, as well as cooperatively with all maintenance teams, and all other divisional employees and leadership.
    • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals

    Required Skills

    Basic computer operation/navigation skills preferred.

    Must be at least 18 years of age.

    Required Experience

    Technical training in related field and/or mechanical aptitude gained from previous professional experience.

    Must have or be able to obtain and maintain a Missouri Class E Driver's License or resident state equivalent. 

    OSHA 10-Hour or 30-Hour course completion preferred. 

    Current certification in any related field or equipment-handling certificates desired.
