Park Operations Business Intern - Animal Care Specialist Busch Gardens Williamsburg Job Description - Attend seminars held by various departments within the park, including Culinary Operations, Design & Engineering, Finance, Human Resources, Marketing, Merchandise, and Park Operations Attend business, leadership, and professional development classes taught by park leadership Park tours with members of the Park Operations leadership team Planned meeting sessions with members of the parks senior leadership team Complete an Internship project where interns work with leaders throughout the park on an assignment designed to improve the park and its operations Complete an evaluation process throughout the entire internship period designed to help selected candidates gain real job experience and develop/improve their performance during the entire length of the internship Interns will also have the experience of front-line involvement, overseeing a team of employees and providing guidance and direction to their team as they interact with thousands of guests daily Daily Responsibilities - Perform area cleaning and maintenance of Zoological areas and enclosures Perform daily health maintenance, training sessions, and animal presentations Daily, weekly, and monthly record keeping Daily animal enrichment and exhibit maintenance. Maintain current behaviors for all applicable animals Have the ability to recognize the overall health of each animal through daily observation and hands on training. Knowledge of and the ability to discuss the natural history of the animals in the Zoological Department. General knowledge of the SeaWorld/Busch Gardens Animal Training methods. Demonstrate the understanding of the SOPs for an animal escape and the responsibilities of being onsite during this situation. Participate as requested in animal outreach presentations including school visits, animal appearances in various media and stage presentations. Requirements and Competencies Must be currently pursuing a college degree Valid Virginia drivers license, have a clean driving record, and possess the ability to operate a company vehicle Commit to working through the 2019 peak operating season (mid May mid August) Flexible availability (schedules include nights, weekend and holidays) Excellent human relations and communication skills Previous zoological or theme park experience is a plus One year of animal care experience with at least 6 months of hoof stock and/or avian experience preferred Familiar with the principles of Operant Conditioning, specifically the application of positive reinforcement training preferred " -More Information Park Name: Busch Gardens Williamsburg Location: Williamsburg, VA Status: Seasonal Pay Rate: Starting Rate: $9.15 /Hour Relocation Provided: No Closing Date: 3/17/2019 11:59 PM ET
