Requisition No: 41345 Agency: Business and Professional Regulations Working Title: LAW ENFORCEMENT INVESTIGATOR II - 79001416 - DBPR/ABT Open Competitive Position Number: 79001416 Salary: $1,521.51 to $2, 842.80 Biweekly Posting Closing Date: 08/13/2018 DIVISION OF ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES & TOBACCO LAW ENFORCEMENT INVESTIGATOR II Position Number: 79001416 Salary Range: $1,521.51 to $2,842.80 Biweekly OPEN COMPETITIVE The Florida Division of Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco licenses the manufacture, distribution, sale, and service of alcoholic beverage and tobacco products in Florida, including: receipt and processing of license applications; collection and auditing of taxes and fees paid by licensees; and enforcement of the laws and regulation of the alcoholic beverage and tobacco industries, pursuant to chapters 210, 561-565, 567-569, Florida Statutes. The division's three bureaus - Licensing, Auditing and Law Enforcement - comprise a team of approximately 330 personnel fulfilling the regulatory obligations of the division throughout the state. Employees are normally hired at the minimum of the salary range ($1,521.51 biweekly).** Minimum Requirements: -A minimum of two (2) years of full-time, law enforcement experience is required. An Associates Degree or higher can substitute for one year of the required experience. -Must possess a State of Florida Law Enforcement certification pursuant to Section 943.13, Florida Statutes. -Must reside within 50 air miles of the Ft. Myers District Office at the time of employment. -Must have and maintain a valid drivers license. Duties & Responsibilities: The advertised position is a sworn law enforcement position assigned to the Ft. Myers District Office. The selected applicant will plan, conduct, and complete criminal, administrative and civil investigations for which the Division of Alcoholic Beverages & Tobacco has jurisdiction. The selected candidate must reside within 50 air miles of the office where the vacant position is assigned at the time of employment. Prior to appointment, the selected candidate must possess Florida law enforcement certification standards pursuant to section 943.13, Florida Statutes. -Plans, conducts and completes all or portions of complex criminal, administrative, and civil investigations. Operates as an undercover agent. -Conducts minimum age compliance surveys (alcohol and tobacco), prepares work plan involving the public and other government agencies to reduce or eliminate non-compliance, and completes planned activities making adjustments as needed. -Independently conducts investigations of stolen or counterfeit cigarette tax stamps; unlawful shipments of deliveries of alcoholic beverages or tobacco products into the State; non-tax paid alcoholic beverages, tobacco products and fraudulent applications, tax returns, and records; and unlawful ties between manufacturers or distributors and retailers of alcoholic beverages. -Prepares accurate investigation, prosecution and administrative reports as well as conducts interviews, testifies in official legal proceedings, and participates in cooperative investigations with other agencies. -Provides training regarding State laws and rules which the Division of Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco is responsible for enforcing. Participates in community prevention and education events. -Enforces final orders, settlement agreements, and court orders, makes arrests, serves warrants, recruits and documents informants, and accounts for investigative expenses. -Plans, conducts and completes inspections of businesses licensed to sell or serve alcoholic beverages and tobacco products, to promote compliance. -Participates in training as required or assigned and properly maintains issued equipment. -Maintains familiarity with the divisions written policies and procedures, departmental legal opinions, statutory changes, rules, agency directives, and court decisions. -Performs other related duties and participates in state declared emergency operations as assigned which may involve extended travel outside of the assigned area in the event of an activation. -Maintains proper physical conditioning to perform the duties of a sworn law enforcement officer.
