Professional Environmental Engineer (K0237061) in the Bureau of Water This role would be role would be responsible for performing detailed technical and regulatory review of engineering reports, protocols, plans and specifications for public water supply facilities and distribution systems. Assure the submitted documents conform to state and federal laws, regulations and policies, waste stream handling/disposal practices, and to sound engineering practices in order to protect public health. Projects assigned are generally for any municipality. Project scope of work and technical complexity range from small to large and from simple to complex, respectively. Many projects will be funded by the Kansas Public Water Supply Loan Fund. Regularly updates the SWEPT and KPWSLF drinking water project tracking database for those projects assigned. Minimum Requirements: Professional engineering license recognized by the Kansas Board of Technical Professions and two years of experience in professional environmental engineering. Professional Engineer - Incumbent is required to maintain a professional engineering license while in the position. Valid Driver's License - Incumbent is required to have and maintain a valid driver's license when operating a state vehicle, a private vehicle, or a rental vehicle for the benefit of the State. Preferred Criteria: Bachelors degree in Civil, Environmental or Chemical Engineering (Accredited Program) Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access Proofreading, editing, attention to detail Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills Ability to utilize personal protective equipment Experience with a public water supply or wastewater state revolving loan fund program Experience with water supply fluoridation treatment and related matters Knowledge of waste streams generated by drinking water treatment technologies Knowledge of waste handling/disposal practices and waste disposal regulations Experience in the design and operation of drinking water source, treatment and distribution Salary: $70,000 annually; can vary depending upon experience and qualifications.
