  • Responsibilities

    THE CAMPGROUND MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE DAY TO DAY MAINTENANCE OF THE CAMPGROUND RENTAL UNITS, BATH HOUSES, CAMPGROUND BUILDINGS, CAMPSITES AND GENERAL SPACES WITHIN THE CAMPGROUND.  ADDITIONAL DUTIES MAY BE ASSIGNED.  MANAGEMENT RETAINS THE DISCRETION TO CHANGE OR ADD TO THE DUTIES OF THIS POSITION AT ANY TIME. 

    • Ensure campsites and outside facilities (comfort stations, docks, pavilion, etc.) are operational for guest use
    • Performs general construction, general plumbing and general electrical repairs
    • Troubleshoot and problem solve general maintenance and repair issues, evaluating solutions and working alongside the Campground Maintenance Supervisor to resolve issues
    • Inspect all areas of the campground and notify the Campground Maintenance Supervisor of any hazards that may endanger the general public or staff. Including but not limited to, all campground units, campsites, buildings, and surrounding areas
    • Maintains the general organization and cleanliness of the maintenance shop, all maintenance equipment, campground vehicles, and all general work areas.
    • Maintain, repair and troubleshoot all general maintenance aspects of the Stone Mountain Park RV units, Yurts, Safari Tents, campsites, bath houses.
    • Perform general preventative maintenance on Campground equipment with proven ability to be as evaluated by the Campground Maintenance Lead, Campground Facility Lead, and Campground Maintenance Supervisor
    • Perform site renovations and additions as directed to include preventative and daily maintenance, general construction and general excavation.  
    • Operate heavy equipment as directed
    • Pump propane for campers
    • Direct, advise and/or work in conjunction with other staff (campground staff, SMP staff, or contractor) in solving any maintenance related problems
    • Upholds and performs job in a safe manner consistent with all Stone Mountain Park policies and procedures
    • Assist with check-in traffic direction
    • All other duties as assigned

    • MUST POSSESS A GENERAL WORKING KNOWLEDGE OF MAINTENANCE AND CONSTRUCTION HAND AND POWER TOOLS INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO: DRILLS, SAWS, NAIL GUNS, SANDERS, COMPRESSORS, POWER WASHERS, VOLTAGE TESTER, AUGERS, HAMMERS, WRENCHES, AND SCREW DRIVERS
    • Must be able to maintain a good working relationship with coworkers
    • Must be able to communicate effectively with a variety of people
    • Must have the ability to solve problems on behalf of guests
    • Must be able to define problems, collect research, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
    • Must be able to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables
    • Must be able to effectively present information and respond to questions/complaints over the phone and in person
    • Must be able to multitask and work well independently in a fast-paced environment
    • Must be very deadline conscious and detail-oriented

     

    Required Experience

    • High School Diploma or GED preferred
    • Knowledge of campground operations is preferred
    • Minimum of 2-5 years of professional maintenance experience required
    • General electric, general plumbing and general construction experience required
    • Must have and maintain a Georgia Driver's License
