    Herschend Family Entertainment considers technology an integral part of its business operations, overall guest and employee experience, as well as a key factor to both enable as well as support future growth initiatives and is seeking a Senior Application Developer to assist in this aspect of its operation.  The Senior Application Developer for this position is responsible for the development, unit testing, configuration, deployment and support of Herschend Family Entertainment applications.  Desired returns include (but are not limited to) improved employee and guest experience, increased business efficiency and effectiveness, and ability to scale and expand the HFE group of operating properties. To effectively fulfill these responsibilities, the Senior Application Developer will interact extensively both with internal Technology Solutions Group resources and other HFE team members, as well as with external stakeholders such as vendors, trade associations, and other technology organizations.

     

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    • This position with be on our Application Development Support team, with primary functions related to the support of existing applications and interfaces.
    • Collaborate on project teams comprised of HFE team members and stakeholders to develop and maintain technology solutions that support current and future business needs.
    • Develop applications utilizing current Microsoft Development technologies.
    • Maintain secure coding standards in developed applications.
    • Develop / maintain databases utilizing Microsoft SQL Server technologies.
    • Support and troubleshoot Herschend Family Entertainment applications and integrations.
    • Maintain current technical subject matter expertise and knowledge by reviewing professional publications, completing advanced training programs, and participating in professional groups and societies.
    • As part of the Application Development Support team and the broader Technology Solutions Group team, provide afterhours support of business systems. This will include on-call duties, on average one week per month.

    • Strong interest in the field of theme park and hospitality technology applications with the emphasis on guest experience and improving business processes and efficiencies.
    • Flexibility; ability to deal with changing priorities and business seasonality
    • Ideal candidate is a self-starter and team player with excellent analytical skills, as well as a profound interest in and awareness of our guest experience.
    • Friendly, positive attitude with the orientation of moving forward and advancing technology initiatives even when it is not popular or easy.
    • Travel anticipated, approx. 5%
    • After-hours and weekend support as needed, including on-call duties one week per month average.

     

    Required Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience
    • 5+ years of experience developing applications utilizing Microsoft .Net Framework, theme park and/or lodging/hospitality industry experience a significant plus
    • Strong proficiency in ASP.NET server web technologies including MVC, Razor Templates, Razor Pages, and legacy Web Forms.
    • Strong proficiency in client web technologies including html, css, javascript, typescript, jquery.
    • Angular 2+ experience (or experience with similar spa framework) preferred.
    • Proficiency developing and consuming REST based API’s using ASP.NET / C#.
    • Experience utilizing Object Relational Mappers such as Entity Framework.
    • Experience developing and maintaining TSQL stored procedure, functions and scripts preferred.
    • Experience translating conceptual business requirements to application code.
    • Experience utilizing Git for source code management.
    • Experience utilizing Azure Devops (VSTS / TFS) for project / defect management and application deployment.
    • Previous training and experience following secure coding practices.
