  • Responsibilities

    This position will be responsible for assisting the Warehouse/Traffic Person in safely receiving raw materials, supplies and other items from vendors and suppliers; Prepare shipments to customers and load trailers with finished product/materials; Coordinate with material handlers throughout the plant to ensure zero machine down-time while also maintaining the warehouse. This position will follow established procedures, safely use warehouse equipment, and complete all necessary paperwork accurately. This person must understand and align business operations and Warehouse Department as they execute their role to exceed customer expectations and align with GPI business, cultural, financial and operational objectives.

    SCHEDULE REQUIREMENTS:

    • 1st Shift
    • Must be willing and able to work overtime.

    Required Skills

    JOB FUNCTIONS: Job functions include, but are not limited to the following.

    • Work within and adhere to GPI’s core values of Integrity, Respect, Accountability, Relationships and Teamwork.
    • Responsible for understanding and adhering to all GMP, safety, food safety, Quality Rules and Procedures (Training will be provided).
    • Safely operate PIV/forklift, stretch wrapper, pallet jacks, power dolly/lift, other warehouse equipment.
    • Supply departments with needed material, product and supplies.
    • Maintains inventory of shipping materials and supplies.
    • Receive and locate corrugated. Locate finished goods pallets.
    • Assist Warehouse/Traffic person to prepare bill of ladings for shipments.
    • Assist Warehouse/Traffic person to schedule appointments for pick-up of shipments.
    • Pulls daily releases for shipments
    • Follow proper shipping check procedures. Some customers require special shipping procedures.
    • Load and inspect trailers.
    • Examines outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications.
    • Properly load and unload materials to prevent damage
    • Compares identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items on outgoing and incoming shipments to verify information against bills of lading, packing slips, orders, or other records. Immediately report discrepancies to Warehouse/Traffic Person, Carriers, and Supervisors.
    • Load waste trucks (as back-up to Material handlers).
    • Verify information enter on Waste Bill of Ladings.
    • Keep shipping area neat and clean. Dump trash daily.
    • Do daily preventative maintenance checks on forklifts.
    • Verify and admit visitors/truck drivers into the warehouse (secured gate/door). Ensure visitors/truck drivers stay in approved/marked areas.
    • Performs other related duties as assigned

     REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:

    • Ability to follow directions and work well in a team environment.
    • Ability to accurately sort, count, and verify items received.
    • Ability to operate material handling equipment efficiently and safely (including charging and maintenance of propane/batteries – performance of daily PM checklist).
    • Ability to work under minimal supervision.
    • Basic understanding of warehouse procedures.
    • Must know paperwork documentation procedures for movement of materials and be able to complete the forms efficiently and accurately.
    • Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
    • Work toward and maintain an accurate orderly inventory by placing product in proper places.
    • Knowledge of use for Microsoft Office and simple ERP systems (TBOX).
    • Basic computer and data entry skills.
    • Good attendance
    • Comply with company policies, procedures, rules and regulations

    Required Experience

    JOB SPECIFICATIONS

    • High School Diploma/Equivalent preferred. 
    • Zero to two years’ manufacturing warehouse experience preferred.
    • Forklift license preferred. 
      • Company will pay for license/training for exceptional candidate.
    • Understanding of inventory required.

     

    PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

    • Work environment involves constant exposure to adverse conditions such as dust, noise, fumes, weather, poor lighting, or heavy machinery/equipment.
    • Awkward and/or repetitive movements.
    • Occasional Lifting up to 50 lbs.
    • Reading computer screen or other electronic devices.
    • Use of various hand and electrical tools and equipment.
