  • Responsibilities

    MISSION / SUMMARY:

    Sources and buys secondary at the lowest possible cost based upon quality, availability, and market conditions. Makes sure the mill does not run out of fiber while reacting to external competition, fluctuating generation, and changing mill production.

     

    JOB FUNCTIONS: Job functions include, but are not limited to the following.

     

    • Maintain proper inventory levels to insure smooth operations in any market/mill run-ability.
    • Be able to set pricing on a monthly basis to remain competitive in the market place.
    • Seek out and inform management of any low cost opportunity grades to reduce cost.
    • Maintain pricing/accuracy in Furnish Tracking system for best upper management cost decisions on grade mix and getting suppliers paid correctly. Includes resolving any discrepancies with suppliers.
    • Monitor and improve incoming quality to be able to generate the best quality board and the lowest possible cost.
    • Maintain good supplier relationships to try to get the right quality, at the right price, the right time.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    BACKGROUND / EXPERIENCE:

    • 3-5 years of extensive of knowledge of secondary fiber grades.
    • Working knowledge of trucking transportation modes/cost.
    • Working knowledge of railroad transportation modes/cost.
    • Solid/working knowledge of cost analysis, inventory control, quality control.
    • Solid/working knowledge of market analysis, forecasting, and pricing of grades.
    • Computer skills such as MS Word, Excel, Furnish Tracking, and TMS a must
    • Must have an understanding of ERP systems (SAP preferred)

     

     

    EDUCATION / KNOWLEDGE:

    • Four-year degree preferred or;
    • Compensatory closely related work experience required in lieu of degree.

    SCHEDULE DEMANDS:

    • General schedule is an 8-hour M-F assignment, however, employee must be willing to work alternate schedules occasionally; that may include early mornings, nights, and/or weekends and be punctual while doing so.
    • Occasional overnight travel to include flying, driving, riding or by rail.

     

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

    • Sitting or standing for extended periods of time up to 8-hours.
    • Occasional Lifting up to 20 lbs.
    • Reading computer screen or other electronic devices.
    • Use of various office hand and electrical tools or equipment.
