    MISSION / SUMMARY:

    The Process Control Engineer will report directly to the E/I Engineering Manager. This position serves as a point position for all facets of day-to-day process control support. The successful candidate will have the following responsibilities and qualifications:

     

    JOB FUNCTIONS: Job functions include, but are not limited to the following.

    • Support daily and breakdown maintenance activities, especially those related to troubleshooting of DCS and PLC systems with their associated I/O systems, HMI displays, and field devices.
    • Provide process control engineering and configuration resources for capital projects.
    • Support of process control systems after hours and on rotating weekend call duty.
    • Both review and create the following types of documentation for new and existing systems: loop sheets, motor elementaries, and logic.
    • Monitor control system reliability and process variability, and take steps to eliminate any shortcomings.

    BACKGROUND / EXPERIENCE:

     

    • Configuration and troubleshooting experience with DCS and PLC systems, including their connected HMI displays (DeltaV DCS, Provox DCS, and Control Logix PLC experience are beneficial)
    • Ability to create and review DCS and PLC documentation, including loop sheets, motor elementaries, and logic diagrams
    • Ability to support the network and computer systems connected to automatic control systems

     

    EDUCATION / KNOWLEDGE:

    • BS/BA degree in Computer Science or Engineering, related field or equivalent manufacturing experience
    • 8+ years experience in an industrial maintenance organization. Paper industry experience preferred.
    • Thorough knowledge of DCS and PLC concepts and application
    • Demonstrated leadership

    SCHEDULE DEMANDS:

    • General schedule is an 8-hour M-F assignment, however, employee must be willing to work alternate schedules occasionally; that may include early mornings, nights, and/or weekends and be punctual while doing so. Occasional overnight travel to include flying, driving, riding or by rail.

     

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

    • Sitting or standing for extended periods up to 8-hours.
    • Occasional Lifting up to 20 lbs.
    • Reading computer screen or other electronic devices.
    • Use of various office hand and electrical tools or equipment.

  • Qualifications

    MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Monitor the day-to-day activities of volunteers and interns to ensure quality experiences
    • Ensure that volunteer files are securely stored and privacy/confidentiality is maintained
    • Maintain appropriate documentation necessary to assure proper implementation of Volunteer & Intern Services.
    • Oversee the implementation of the human resources policies, procedures and practices including the development of position descriptions, on-job training and evaluations for all volunteers
    • Recruit, interview, select and onboard volunteers and interns that have the right technical and personal abilities to help further WAVE Foundation’s mission
    • Coach and mentor volunteers and interns as appropriate to improve performance
    • Establish good working relationships and collaborative arrangements with community groups, unpaid staff, and other organizations to help achieve the goals of WAVE Foundation
    • Work with other WAVE and aquarium departments to assist in volunteer & intern staffing schedules and needs. Train staff to work effectively and cooperatively with volunteers
    • Ensure that volunteers & interns are given appropriate training to be successful in their positions and records of volunteer hours are maintained according to established procedures
    • Ensure that volunteers & interns receive the appropriate level of supervision and recognition
    • Assist with conflict resolution among clients, staff and volunteers according to established procedures
    • Develop, manage and monitor the departmental budget and related expenditures
    • Communicate and maintain working relationships with guests, staff, supervisors, other departments, suppliers, professional associations and colleagues in related industries
    • Maintain awareness of all volunteer/development activities and programs to effectively promote WAVE Foundation and Aquarium
    • Work with WAVE Staff to develop, plan and implement fundraising events
    • Assist the Executive Director with special projects as needed

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Minimum of three years of experience in the field of volunteer services and development
    • Knowledge of zoo and aquarium industry and experience in related field a plus
    • A passion for people, animals and conservation
    • Excellent communication (public speaking, writing) and interpersonal skills
    • Supervisory experience required
    • Individual must have great organizational skills
    • A valid driver’s license with a good driving record
    • Ability to travel when necessary
    • Ability to work a flexible schedule which may include evenings and/or weekends and holidays
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Better Impact database experience a plus

    PHYSICAL AND MEDICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    • Successful completion of pre-employment background check

    • Immunocompetence (possible exposure to infections and parasitic disease)
