MISSION / SUMMARY:
The mission of the Warehouse Operations Manager is to manage vendor performance and warehouse operations in a time sensitive environment, while also upgrading GPI’s warehouse operations capability to best in class, including the vendor selection process, KPI establishment, dashboarding, visibility, interventions, technology, and partnership management with GPI’s manufacturing sites. The position requires interaction with multiple functional areas in GPI (supply chain, finance, legal, plant/mill operations, risk management, quality, customer service, IT, sales) and external vendors (3PL warehouse vendors, industrial real estate brokers, landlords, and IT service providers).
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage GPI’s network of 100+ warehouses and 50+ 3PL Warehousing Service providers.
- Develop and drive RFPs for warehouse vendors. Select preferred vendor in collaboration with GPI facilities and finalize contract.
- Collaborate with GPI facilities to monitor 3PL vendor KPI’s and quickly address improvement areas.
- Coordinate and host vendor training sessions to ensure GPI standard processes are followed for operations and systems.
- Build out GPI partnership model for warehouse management, with center-led functional oversight and local facility engagement to drive full alignment, accountability, and actions.
- Enforce contractual commitments between GPI and 3PL vendors; engage GPI legal team as needed.
- Host vendor reviews at set intervals to discuss vendor performance, goals/targets, forecasted changes in business, challenges, improvement plans, issue resolution, and all-over pertinent aspects of the business relationship.
- Drive resolution on administrative complications and discrepancies with 3PL warehousing vendors such as invoicing and claims issues.
- Lead the application of more automation and systems/technology upgrades to drive better efficiency, service, and inventory integrity.
- Set up Daily Management System and Control tower for proactive insights and actions.
- Drive adoption of IT tools for improved visibility across WH footprint.
- Ensure warehouses are regularly inspected and audited for building integrity, Food Safety status, use of PPE, signage, etc.
BACKGROUND / EXPERIENCE:
- 8-10+ years of supply chain experience in Logistics Management, Distribution and Warehousing Operations, Vendor Performance Management
- Previous project management and continuous improvement experience required.
- Having worked with Large National 3PL in Key Account Management is a preference
EDUCATION / KNOWLEDGE:
- Must have Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field (supply chain, IT, engineering, finance, accounting, or other related field).
- MBA preferred.
- Must have solid understanding of warehousing and distribution space, including industry trends and state-of-the-art systems, methodologies, and technologies.
- Minimum 3 years SAP hands on experience. Good understanding of transaction flow of WMS into financial statements.
- Must have understanding of Procure to Pay (P2P) and Order to Cash (O2C) cycles
- Must have superior hands-on analytical experience with Excel and Access or other relational databases. Experience with inventory and freight analysis preferred.
- Proven ability to efficiently deconstruct and reconstruct data from multiple sources into meaningful information.
- Strong attention to detail and an exceptional level of analysis accuracy.
- MS Project Management, Visio, experience are a plus.
- Six Sigma and/or PMI Certification a plus.
