SUMMARY:
The Patient Access Specialist is the first point of contact for patient, family members and other members of the community seeking access to and information regarding life-changing care at Rogers Behavioral Health. The Patient Access Specialist gains career experience to develop and progress with a nationally recognized behavioral health leader.
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Evaluate incoming telephone and website inquiries to determine and explain the next step to providing care at Rogers or at other facilities
- Understand clinical criteria necessary for admission to Rogers’ programs.
- Describe levels of care within Rogers to potential patients and/or their representatives.
- Inquire of potential patients and/or responsible representatives to obtain demographic and insurance information.
- Understand how to use Rogers’ non-financial contract summary listing when communicating information regarding admission of a potential patient.
- Explain insurance coverage to patients during the pre-admission process and answer related questions.
- Assist in coordination of admissions with patient and/or responsible representative to include admission information, directions, and information about the program they will be entering.
- Recognize cases that require the involvement of Rogers’ outreach services or that provide an opportunity for outreach services.
- Involve the Patient Access Manager/Supervisors or on-call Admissions Manager in cases that require special attention due to the complex nature of the case.
- Ensure all viable calls are entered in the computer system capturing necessary information.
- Ensure referral source information is obtained from each caller and entered into the computer system.
EDUCATION/TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma (Bachelor’s degree preferred).
- Must pass pre-employment background and drug screen.
- Must be fully vaccinated for COVID unless approved for a medical or religious exemption.
SCHEDULE: 1.0 FTE, MONDAY-FRIDAY 11:30AM CST - 8:00PM CST
- Department is staffed 5 days a week
- Shift: MONDAY-FRIDAY 11:30AM CST - 8:00PM CST
- Shift differential for nights
