    Herschend Family Entertainment is currently seeking the leader who will manage full cycle Shared Services payroll process in an accurate, timely, and reliable manner for our corporate entity and certain subsidiaries, totaling 6,000+ employees.  Ensure accurate and timely filing of all payroll tax & other payroll regulatory and compliance reporting.  Manage relationships with property leaders who we provide payroll services to and lead team in provision of excellent customer service. A highly disciplined and organized leader is needed for this role.

     RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Builds payroll team by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training new employees; develops existing team thru coaching, praise, collaboration and when necessary correction and discipline.
    • Develop and maintain good relationships with properties within our Shared Services organization. Manage expectations both of the payroll team, and of the property.
    • Assist in the development and implementation of Information Technology systems to support automation enhancement, as well as maintain and enhance current systems. Lead payroll portion of implementations.
    • Maintain payroll guidelines and drive standardization and efficiency by establishing, writing and updating desk procedures.
    • Ensure timely and accurate payroll tax and other compliance reporting and filing. File all payroll taxes, balance and create w-2 and reporting at year end.
    • Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.
    • Lead/Manage payroll tax audits and support financial audits as needed with regard to payroll related requests.
    • Ensure that payroll records are maintained and record retention procedures followed.
    • Practice flexible leadership, professional management skills, consultative and participative decision making skills.
    • Management reserves the right to change and/or add to these duties.

    Required Skills

    • Experience in hiring, training, supervising, and evaluating direct reports using servant leadership skills.
    • Strong organizational, planning, communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to adapt to changing business environment.
    • Experience in company of similar size, minimum >2,000 employees.
    • Experience with payroll programs for mid-size companies (examples: UltiPro, Workday, JD Edwards and similar – preferred but not required)
    • Ability to use a personal computer and Microsoft Office Products. Strong Excel skills required. 
    • Strong knowledge of standard payroll operational procedures and related laws.
    • Ability to implement new software applications developed in house or purchased packages. Experience in implementation a plus.
    • Friendly, positive attitude.
    • Ability to be assertive when necessary to accomplish company goals.
    • Self supervised and disciplined to prioritize and complete work on a timely basis.
    • Handle confidential information responsibly.
    • Positive team member at all times.
    • Professional, good personal hygiene.
    • Honest and dependable.
    • Detail oriented and analytical.
    • Strong sense of urgency and ability to meet deadlines.

    Essential functions:

    Required Experience

    • BS in Accounting, or related field
    • Minimum 5 years’ experience in multi-state, multi-company full cycle payroll required.
    • Professional certification a plus.
