HR Generalist - Entry Level Gelson's | Gelson's Markets - Santa Fe
Springs, CA 90670 Job Summary: Manage day-to-day operations of the Human
Resource office by providing resources for employee relations and
administrative support to the Human Resource Manager. Represent the
company in Union employee grievances. Duties performed require
considerable confidentiality, initiative, tact and mature and
independent judgment. Essential Duties: * Compile all necessary
paperwork on behalf of the company for representation in Union
grievances. * Process and monitor all HR related forms (e.g. New Hire
paperwork, Change of Status, I-9, work permits, etc.) * Process request
for employee time off (e.g. vacation, LOA, personal time off, sick time,
bereavement, Disability, etc.) * Research and prepare responses to
Unemployment Claims. * Create all correspondence as required. * Process
Correction Notices; ensure data is entered and filed in the HR database
and required copies are sent to applicable Unions. * Ensure Union
Agreements are followed and delinquent notices are processed and all
affected parties are notified. * Oversee the termination process
including contacting Unions if applicable, preparing and mailing
termination letters and administering and tracking Exit Interviews;
prepare and distribute quarterly Exit Interview reports. * Verify
invoices for physical exams of new hires. * Initiate annual and
semi-annual Notice of Availability to be distributed at store locations.
- Create reports as requested, including Wage Analysis and Headcount
reports. * Other related duties and assignments as required.
Qualifications: Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Bachelors
degree strongly preferred. Experience: 2-5 years of experience in Human
Resources. Experience in the retail and/or supermarket field preferred.
Highly proficient computer skills including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs): Technical: Knowledge of modern
methods of office administration and business correspondence formatting.
Highly effective organizational and time management skills. Skilled in
independently prioritizing, planning, coordinating, organizing, leading
and monitoring multiple organizational projects of a complex nature
simultaneously and quickly adapting to changes in time frames.
Communication: Ability to effectively convey and understand information
verbally and in written format. Ability to interface with all levels of
the company through active listening, comprehending questions and
providing answers. Interpersonal Relationships: Ability to interface
with management, company personnel and Union representatives on a
regular basis, to obtain or provide information. Has the propensity to
project a positive attitude and look for solutions to problems. Ability
to collaborate with others through teamwork and share ideas to work
towards a common goal. Decision Making: Ability to manage time and
adhere to deadlines. Knowledge of processes necessary to make an
informed decision. Ability to work on own initiative when minimum
